On January 2nd, 2006, the Sago coal mine in West Virginia had an explosion deep underground that trapped 13 miners for 2 days. In the end, only one had survived. Mining is nasty, hard work...just tried to put myself in a miners boots.

Acoustic 6 string, dobro, banjo, squire jazz bass, touch of dark synth at the end..and of course my trusty BR1200 (i think the REDO button may be the first thing to wear out)

WELL TIMES IS TUFF...AND TIMES IS BAD...WHEN ALL YA GOT...WAS WHAT YA HAD
WORKIN' IN THE MINE WAS THE ONLY JOB AROUND...SUN DON'T NEVER SHINE..DEEP DOWN UNDERGROUND

GOTTA SAY GOODBYE..'CAUSE I DON'T WANNA DIE..IN THE SAGO MINE
LORD I CAN'T GO ON THIS WAY...I NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY...

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

HIGH TIME TO PACK A BAG...'FORE IT'S TOO LATE...I HEARD THE RUMBLE...AND I FELT THE SHAKE
JUST ANOTHER MINER...ANOTHER SORRY SOUL..TRAPPED WAY DOWN DEEP INSIDE A DARK HELL HOLE

I love the 'twang' of that Dobro and the sweet sound of your slide playing. This is a style of music I love, and you perform it incredibly well. Very authentic-sounding to my ears. I like both the subject of the song and how you've translated it lyrically. This is very fine music. Superb job.

Onto my 2nd listen - this one is going to get a lot of airplay at Greeny Towers

Initially I could only focus on the fact that it was 2006... It just doesn't seem that long ago. Pine, this is a fantastic song full of sentiment.

When all you got is what you had.... what a line.
