was fiddling about on the juno with some chord progressions.

and wrote a bare bones song. just drums and juno and voice. was going to build and layer more over the top of it, then i thought why not put it in the collaboration board to see what folk might add to it, then i thought why not add it to the backing track jam boards and folk can mess about with it as they please, should they wish to. for all i know folk might think its a pile of shit or it may never be found here lol.

anyway here are the words do with it as you please

take your time it's painless
there's no rush to get there
it'll still be here  when we're long gone

it's a ride remember
memory surrendered
to the silver and the silicon

baby don't get nervous
choruses and verses
bridges burned behind us too
throw away the rulebook
don't look back you know you
gotta move ahead

the only way is forward
left & right & backward
you can go just where you wanna go
take me where you're going
to the great unknown
outer space or inner peace

baby don't get nervous
choruses and verses
bridges burned behind us too
throw away the rulebook
don't look back you know you
gotta move ahead

laugh i nearly cried
lord i nearly prayed
boy i sure had fun
getting down getting down

take your time it's painless

it'll still be here  when we're long gone

Jim I can hear some massive potential on this. I don't think I have the chops to do what I hear, but I am going to give it a crack. I'll PM you.

it's all good. I am going to wreck the vocal delivery, the rest can stand on it's own. hoping to get on this tonight and get you a rough draft at least.

I wasn't going to post this because it is what it is, me trying to learn a song. Until this point, I've never been able to pick up a song by ear and learn to play it, which will soon be obvious that I still have a lot of room to grow. In a nutshell, I listened to the song a few times, then decided to record a track for the hell of it.

I could never tell majors from minors, one chord from the next, etc. I got a little help from Jim with what keys he played on the piano, so it narrowed down the possibilities quite a bit, but still requires some ear. I love having to "work" to find my way to bliss. Most likely, my next pass on this will be with a keyboard so I can work it out a little easier.

I wonder if everyone goes through a similar process, or do the chords just jump out at you seasoned guys?

If you know the chords I'm struggling to find (and you actually read this thread) try not to clue me in to what they are, I need to work them out for myself.

enjoy.

You forgot to mention if it was two white keys and a black or some variation of that ;D
