So, you said I was a bit crazy.
I said you were right
Than something so funny happened
You started to gripe
About all the times I told you
My love wasn't a game
But it never quite sunk in to your head
To return the same

Now all the empty moments of our times
Have come back to haunt
Your restless dreams at night while you're sleeping
Admit it's me that you've sought
When you thought you wanted a boy toy
And just a cheap substitute
From the experience I've had with your kind
Thinking is not your best suit

You wanted so much more
Than you could take from me
and now it's far too late
You'll have to live a lie
I was the only one you could believe in

You never thought there was a real problem
As far is it goes
You chose to live in silent denial
Other than to deal with my woes
So the days and night go without the
joys that have might all been ours
Happiness is so hard to find when you've
Got you head so high in the stars

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.

Keep the music flowing, John. No law against it!

I really liked the chorus and the keys solo, very cool.

Peace,

Mark

Just fantastic piece of music, John!!! A lots of prog rock vibe from the 70's, imo... You put all parts and instruments well together! Nice job!!

Absolutely ace. 'Proper' songwriting, beautifully performed. What's not to like? And the little touches of brass are great. A lovely 70's feel - slightly Andrew Gold to my ears, but progged-up a bit with that whacked-out synth solo. There's something on the harmonies and vocal that also reminds me of Arthur Lee / Love. Superb stuff... so accomplished.

I was loving the mix of bass-rich piano and airy synth, and then those horns came in - wow! Went from unique power ballad to orchestral and even a bit psychedelic when the guitar/keys solo comes in. A fascinating listen.
