Here we are again, with the second chapter of our new project.

The project is called "Stolen Words" and it has to do with British literature poems; Roberto (Robtob) composes the music to accompany the lyrics. I re-arrange the music, and James is our great singer.

The poem, this time, is "Tragedy":

George William ("A. E.") Russell (1867–1935).  Collected Poems by A.E.  1913.

166. Tragedy

A MAN went forth one day at eve:
The long day's toil for him was done:
The eye that scanned the page could leave
Its task until tomorrow's sun.

Upon the threshold where he stood           5
Flared on his tired eyes the sight,
Where host on host the multitude
Burned fiercely in the dusky night.

The starry lights at play—at play—
The giant children of the blue,           10
Heaped scorn upon his trembling clay
And with their laughter pierced him through.

They seemed to say in scorn of him
"The power we have was once in thee.
King, is thy spirit grown so dim,           15
That thou art slave and we are free?"

As out of him the power—the power—
The free—the fearless, whirled in play,
He knew himself that bitter hour
The close of all his royal day.           20

And from the stars' exultant dance
Within the fiery furnace glow,
Exile of all the vast expanse,
He turned him homeward sick and slow.

Enjoy!

thank you roberto and alfredo for letting me in on this. you would assume that because i get the music and words sent to me that it would be dead easy, both chapters of the new posc project have been some of the most challenging songs ive ever participated on, mainly because they are not my own words, firstly i have to try and work out what they might be about and try and interpret them properly but even more difficult for me,is unlike my own words i can't tweak or edit them to make them fit, the third problem which is the easiest the melody. anyway thanks for making what i sent sound so much better than what was sent.

Thanks everybody!  :)

James, I do know it's not absolutely easy, and by many points of view it's an absolutely new - and not easy - challenge to me too.
But I'm enjoying a lot with this new adventure, and I hope, difficulties apart, that you're enjoying too!
