This one came out of me last night like a poets croon. I was feeling rather inspired and felt like I could have written a few more if time permitted.

Pinback was my influence, but I haven't actually listened to them in months. weird.

Reminds me a bit of REM. I like the heavier, chordier section in the middle - then how it resolves into the hypnotic folk/power pop groove I enjoy so much. Worth putting some words, vocals to. I can hear a spectral female voice on this - someone like early Natalie Merchant.

FuzzFace

Yes this is a great groove, from beginning to end.
It builds nicely.

Even before I hit the play button on your songs, I know I'm going to like it. This has a great Indie-style jangle, but with some real underlying beef. Awesome chords and changes - just as I've come to expect from you. So far up my street it's untrue. And this is dying out for some vocals! Fantastic work.

So the drum beat got me thinking of Johnny Cougar's 'Jack and Diane' for some reason. But then the guitar hit and I forgot all about it. I know I've used a similar beat before without hearing that connection. Odd.

I'll agree with the comments on the middle section. It really seems to build nicely. And when it comes back to the single note guitar part it seems to work even better than at the beginning. And the doubled part on the repeat is a nice touch. Keeps it interesting without being too complex. This is is good but for me it's asking for a smooth melody and vocal.

I collaborated with local musician (but very well accomplished) Tim Hurley on this song. He's thinking of joining our band Test Match so I sent him my latest song to see what he could do with it. Let me know what you think. I'm pretty impressed myself. His vocals took this in a darker direction than I expected, which I like, and his background sounds really gave it the depth and made it more interesting.

Fyi, Tim Hurley has been a member of Califone (Thrill Jockey) , Red Red Meat (Sub Pop) but his most recent project  Sin Ropas, which is him and his wife drumming have received praises from Pitchfork.com. I must admit this is kind of a thrilling moment for me as a rookie musician collaborating with a big time musician.

Let me know what you think....I respect your opinions.
