yeah, so, once again i have encountered an annoying error message. this time, in the form of... 'event full'. after reading the manual, it seems to suggest that i can't carry out any more recording or editing to this song because i have used up all of my 'events'. that pretty much sucks ass. is there any around this??? i have spent a lot of time on this one song and it's nearly finished. what the hell am i gonna do ??? please help... somebody... anybody. thanks.

First, backup your memory card.

Then try Song Optimize (see page 59 of the Micro BR manual).

If that doesn't solve the problem, export each track to a wave file with the BR Wave Converter. Then create a new song and import each wave file to a separate track. If you created a drum arrangement, copy the file ARRANGE3.BR1 from the old song folder to the new song folder.

The Event Full! message usually only appears after extensive editing and should be pretty rare in normal usage. However, I believe it can also occur when you're having card write errors. If that's the case, try a different memory card.

Wish I'd read this about the drum arrangement prior to dealing with this problem last night.

I realized that my tracks got corrupted after optimizing, copying to new songs, new cards, etc.  Errors always seems to happen to me with bounce or master ops after heavy editing.

Went back to original tracks and did the export to MP3 and import back into fresh song and recovered them but found that you can't simply record the drums playing by themselves it seems.  You need to record in the bounce or master mode to get them into a track.

Thanks for all the great advice!  Copying the arranger file is much easier!

hey. i am still having problems.

i tried backing up the card on my computer, initializing the card, then restoring the data to the initiazlized card, and i am still getting the card read/ edit problems. so now i am gonna resort to exporting the tracks to wave files and creating a new song etc... that was sugeested by '64Guitars'.

i just wanted to know, can all this process be done on the BR itself? or do you have to use a computer? to copy the 'file ARRANGE3.BR1 from the old song folder to the new song folder' for example?

You need the computer for exporting and importing the wave files. You can export each track directly from your BR to the computer but it's a lot of work since each track has to be done separately. It's easier if you use the BR Wave Converter program instead because it can export all of the tracks in one batch operation. You'll still have to import each track separately but at least the export will be a lot quicker and simpler.

Copying ARRANGE3.BR1 from one song to another must also be done on the computer. But you don't have to remove the memory card and put it in a card reader. Instead, you can just connect the BR to the computer with a USB cable. The BR will appear on your computer as an external disk drive.

just to say, many thanks for the advise. i downloaded the old wave BR wave converter program and did what you suggested. it seems to have done the job! and my BR is allowing me to record on this song again! for now at least... but now i know what to do now, should it happen again. cheers again mate.

Quote from: KYbluecats on December 24, 2008, 07:20:25 AMIf you find yourself rerecording things to get it perfect, be sure to go into utility and delete the track and start over.  Sometimes the BR uses the 'hidden' virtual tracks when you try to record over something you decided you did not want.  Once you do this several times(8 or 9), you will get 'Event Full' because all of your available tracks are "used."

Sorry, but that's just wrong and I don't want others to be misled by it. Events are not tracks and deleting tracks does not free up any events (in fact, deleting uses another event). The event table of each song contains about 2,000 entries. Just about everything you do on the BR that affects the recorded data (recording, deleting, moving, copying, etc.) uses one or more events. When all 2,000 events have been used, the "Event Full!" message is displayed and no further recording is possible. Many of the events will point to data that is no longer used. This is necessary to support the Undo feature. The only way to clear these unused events and make them available is with the Song Optimize feature (see page 59 of the Micro BR manual).

Now, 2,000 events is quite a lot, so it's unlikely that you'll use them all in a song. My BR-864 has only 1,000 events per song and I've never seen the Event Full! message in the five years that I've owned it. So, I think that memory card read/write errors caused by weak batteries or incompatible memory cards might explain the Event Full! errors that some people are getting on their Micro BRs (although my BR-864 can be operated with batteries, I've never done so -- I've always used the PSA-120 AC adapter). Card errors could corrupt the event table, causing the BR to think the table is full when it is not. Or, maybe weak batteries are causing internal errors in the BR's RAM or internal flash memory which affects the event table.

Once the conditions leading to the Event Full! message have been written to the memory card, switching to the AC adapter isn't going to help. You'll need to export your tracks to wave files, backup the card, initialize the card, then import the wave files into empty tracks of a new song. So, it's best to use the AC adapter whenever possible to avoid getting the Event Full! message in the first place. When you must use batteries, make sure they are fully charged. If you continue to get Event Full! messages, consider trying a different memory card, as your current card may not be fully compatible with the BR.
