Howdy, strangers.

I have been trying to resurrect MoO lately.  A new configuration played the other night, and this tune spilled out spontaneously (This should be obvious to the most untrained of ears).  I don't think it shows up on tape, but a train really did rumble by in the distance, which is how this germinated.  Sure, it's ugly in an awful sort of way, but it's the first time I found myself smiling at an electric jam in a while.  Live in the living room...

If the player doesn't work, the download button should.

Peace.

Cool one Bruce. Kinda like the Dead playing Cash. Love the guitarwork.

I know.  I know...  I have felt like I've been on an endless string of blind dates where you know in the first few seconds that somebody is not right for you.  Is it too much to ask for a rhythm section to keep time or simply not overplay? Argh!!!

I don't know if you folks out of the U.S. have anything like Craigslist.  It's basically a free online forum to buy/sell your wares, but it also has a community section where you can look for band members.  This has pretty much replaced gig boards in my town.  I would attend the open-mic nights to for musicians, but they either start way too late or are all acoustic.

Anyhow, a friend of mine has developed this theory about Craigslist where legions of folks troll its depths with no real intention of buying, selling, joining a band, etc.  They will tell you they will buy something up until the point they're supposed to get it, and then all manner of excuses crop up.  After advertising for a bass player, I have had multiple folks show up to my house with a guitar or wanting to play drums.  This would be after I've had multiple discussions about bass playing.  Double-argh!!  The most common thing to happen is people will respond to one of my posts unbelievably enthusiastic about playing only to never return any future emails when I'm trying to secure them for a practice or jam.

It can be a scary place that Craigslist. Anybody else have similar occurrences there?

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Nice jam! I like those country licks on the guitar. Lately I've stumbled  upon a lot of Johnny Cash songs that have been redone. I like Johnny Cash's songs especially the rockabillie ones. Again a great jam...I can see why it brought a smile to you.

Definitely has a mid-70s Grateful Dead vibe to it, or maybe early- to mid-70s Garcia Band. You nail the solo - it's very different, of course, from the Cash original, and that's what makes it cool. I like the laid-back vocal, too.
I hear you about Craigslist - I posted there twice looking for bandmates for a bluegrassy, folky jam band idea I had, and several answered who just wanted to do the typical beachy, touristy acoustic thing. Nothing wrong with that, but it's sooooo far from what I had in mind. I did, however, meet some friendly folks who like to casually jam, but no one serious about gigging.
Back to your cover - one of my favorite songs, and I like your take on it.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

I'm heading once more unto the breach this Friday.  I have been solemn about the prospects for electric playing for a while, but this Friday has some potential. I'm taking a bass player from last time and pairing him with a drummer whom I met.  Could be a great rhythm section, but we'll have to wait and see...at least until Friday.  At least I'm a little jazzed about it.
