I bought an Ibanez Gio series bass yesterday for 30$, it was advertised locally in classifieds "as is for decoration, 'guts' are damaged". I am not sure what the owner did to it and didn't bother asking, the strings were mounted with the ball ends behind the bridge saddles, wood screws in the neck of matching sorts, a volume pot post was broken completely off and all the wiring was cut.  It's been ages since I had a normal four string bass that isn't set up for down-tuning or has more strings, this thing plays like a toy now for me, so easy action and great sound, despite the dead strings on it. I ended up just wiring the p/j pckups to a one tone one volume configuration with a 3-way pickup switch I installed with a dremel tool. I have an open tone pot now that I put a disconnected pot and knob for cosmetic purposes, but I am going to either throw in a kill switch next or I am thinking of adding a second output jack, to record things in tw tracks simultaneously or be able to run it through two amps.

Anyway, after working on it last night I wanted to throw down a quick drum track to test out the bass and added some guitar with my cheap no-namer strat. There is some crackle on the first tom, the cheap mics I use have a problem that I am going to fix now with duct tape and try to lay down another track of drums to work with this evening. - I have to say though for all the known brands who produce some low costs instruments, Ibanez is definitely up there, I really like the tone of the bass unplugged and how easy it plays

Wild bass sound, thats exactly how I like the bass to sound.  You really are a hell of a drummer, in addition to your other talents man.  This is a deadly fine jamming song.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places
