BR explorer problem?

Hi, I've backed up tons of card-loads of material to the computer.  Today I was looking for a couple tracks in one song and found them using the very handy BR explorer program.

I copied the song folder to a card (as per other advice posted here) and once in the BR, the song played but was missing a lot of the tracks that were shown in the BR explorer track window.

I found another BU with the same song, again verified the tracks in BR explorer, uploaded to a different card, same story.  That should eliminate the BU file or card being corrupt?

So, are the tracks there or not?  If so then what do I have to do to recover them?  I'm stumped.  Maybe a reference file somewhere has the wrong track count or BR explorer is showing false info?

Please help as these were "inspired" leads that are not re-playable.  :'(

Thanks in advance for any advice. (64guitars?)

There's a minor bug in the Track Usage page of BR Explorer which causes it to show deleted tracks as used (green). To see the correct track usage, look at the same song in the BR Wave Converter, which correctly ignores deleted tracks and only marks tracks green if they actually contain data. All of the tracks marked green in BR Wave Converter should be available for playback when the backup of the song is copied to the BR. The tracks marked green in BR Explorer's Track Usage page were used at some point in the creation of the song, but some of them might in fact be empty if you later deleted the track.

BR Explorer does nothing that could change any track data in your backups. It only shows you what's there. If the tracks you seek actually exist in the backup (ie; you see them in BR Wave Converter too), then it's just a matter of selecting the correct v-tracks on the BR to play them back. However, if some tracks appear in BR Explorer but not in BR Wave Converter, then you must have deleted those tracks before you made the backup.

Thanks much!  That explains it.  I wonder if I optimize the song prior to the BU if it will correct this indication.  Will have to give it a try.   :)

That didn't work.  Still shows the empty tracks but no big deal.

BTW 64guitars, I assume BR explorer is your creation and if so, a VERY handy addition would be its ability to display what rhythm pattern/arrangement is being used in the song.

The reason being that when I first got my unit I cranked out tons of material, backed it up, dumped it to MP3, later renamed the MP3s and now that I want to rework a song (for oldrottenhead's great vocals) I now have NO reference what-so-ever to locate the original....  Can't even use dates as the MP3s nor the songs get created with any other then 10/19/06 (on my unit anyway)

I did figure out the hard way what the rhythm track was by comparing to them in the BR (talk about time consuming) but if they were available in BR explorer then I wouldn't have to restore each of dozens of backups and listen to every song until I can match it up.

Golden rules for MBR - NAME your songs - NAME its MP3 the SAME and BU your work!  ::)

Yes, it's mine.

BR Explorer already shows all of the Arrangement and Pattern details for each song, but only for the BR-600/864/900. The Micro BR and BR-532 have different file layouts and I haven't yet mapped them. So I disabled the Arrangements, Patterns, and Effects tabs when the backup being viewed was created on a Micro BR or BR-532. Perhaps someday I'll map the Micro BR's files and show the Arrangement/Pattern/Effects data, but I'm not making any promises. I don't actually have a Micro BR (I have a BR-864), so that isn't a high priority for me right now.

I haven't tried it, but I believe Tommy's Micro BR Drum Pattern Arranger will show you which patterns you used in your arrangements.

The BR doesn't have a calendar so it has no way to know what the current date is. That's why it sets the date of each file to 10/19/06. Not sure of the significance of that particular date but it was probably some milestone in the development of the Micro BR.

Thanks again.  Guess I can't complain about a recording studio that fits in your pocket!  Maybe now that I'm hooked I should look into a higher end model.   ;D

Of the current BOSS recorders, the BR-600 offers the best value. It has a lot more features than the Micro BR for not much more money. The BR-900CD is good too, but it costs a lot more than a BR-600 and doesn't offer much more in features -- so not a great value. Another great recorder to consider is the Zoom HD8. Awesome features for less than the cost of a BR-900CD.

Right now isn't the best time to shop for a recorder, as the Winter NAMM show is coming up (Jan 15-18). So it's best to wait and see if BOSS or anyone else announces any new recorders before making a purchase decision.
