My hat is in the BowieFest ring with this cover of one of my fave Bowie tracks, Sound and Vision.

As far as I can make out, David's gone out to Comet and bought himself a new tele and music centre.  They've given him a delivery slot of between ten in the morning and two in the afternoon.  Now it's nearly four thirty in the afternoon and still no show.  Nothing else to do but write a song about it.  We've all been there...

I sat down to record this yesterday with a totally different arrangement in mind, all moody synths and lush reverb; it came out completely different, like some cheesey caberet band, which I actually really like.  I couldn't be bothered to programme all the drums and bass, so I played everything live into the Zoom, which I think gives it a nice live feel.

Sound and Vision
Don't you wonder sometimes
'Bout sound and vision

Blue, blue, electric blue
That's the colour of my room
Where I will live
Blue, blue

Pale blinds drawn all day
Nothing to do, nothing to say
Blue, blue

I will sit right down,
Waiting for the gift of sound and vision
And I will sing, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
Drifting into my solitude,
over my head

Don't you wonder sometimes
'Bout sound and vision

Great choice for BowieFest, Nick...this one was on my radar, too. One of my favorites from 'Low'.

You captured the funky feel, from the slinky guitar right down to those doo-doo doo-doo-doos - well done!

Great flipping version.  No way is this cheesy in the least.  Fantastic.

Thanks all.

Must admit that listening back to the track I realised it's not really as finished as I thought, something's missing.  Also realised I played the chord structure wrong in one part (around the 'aah-aah's), but I'm not going to fix that, it would mean redoing the whole song.

Low and Heroes are two of my fave all time albums and I love what you did here. A bit cheesy, but in a really good way! I love the echoey backing vox and the lead guitar parts, in fact I loved it all!

Cheers,

Nigel
