Haven't been around here much - been working in the yard, making it as Old Florida as possible. Just today, I worked on my banjo hangout in the shady back corner, and I plan on taking a beer and the ol' five-string there as soon as the temperature cools down a bit.
Here's a banjo tune I might do at a new open mic on Monday - but I'll play it on guitar if I do it. As far as I know, everything in this song is true - I'm a believer, but the mind can trick you.

This is perfection!!

I love the sound of the banjo! So melodic and serious.

Damn, Chip this is impressive - I can barely tie my shoes and sing! You should really do this on your open mic nite with a banjo. I think it sounds great!

Yes - I love it!

Really sounds good.  Some vocal harmony stuff would lift this one to the top.  Great song.  If you did this with a full band of acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass, with vocal harmony, well that would just about put me in my grave from pure joy.  You would have a Greensky Bluegrass kind of smash hit song.  I really like the sound of your banjo playing and the lyrics/singing are perfect for a song like this.

Thanks for turning me on to a new band - had never heard of Green Sky Bluegrass, checked them out on YouTube. Those guys can really shred, and they have a nice vocal blend, too. I think two of them are brothers, which maybe explains the intuitively good harmonies.
I played this at an open mic last night on guitar. Got a nice reaction - it's cool to go someplace where you can play an original song and people really listen.

Hey Chip... love this stuff... grew up in Missouri and used to go to the bluegrass festivals whenever and where ever I could. Love this song some great pickin you got there. Take a listen to Hayseed Dixie if you haven't already. They've taken bluegrass to a whole new level.
