Fade ins & fade outs

Hi there.

I'm thinking of buying a mico br and I just wonder if it's possible to di fade ins and fade outs.

Thanks!

Pedro

Hello!

The Micro BR doesn't have a fade in/out feature but it is possible to create that effect in two ways:

  • Export your work as a .WAV file to computer and then apply a fade in/out on a editing software.
  • Create your work and then connect the phone OUT to the Line IN, record the Line IN on two free virtual tracks, and then use the Phones Volume to control your fade.

The first one is easier though.   ;)

By the way, welcome to the forum!

On other BR models, you can fade in/out by raising/lowering the Master fader control while bouncing. The Micro BR doesn't have a fader control, but I believe you should be able to do the same thing by pressing the -/+ buttons while bouncing. Or perhaps the Input Level control on the right side of the Micro BR. The Micro BR manual isn't very clear about how you adjust the recording level in bounce mode but there must be a way and I would assume it's either the -/+ buttons or the Input Level control.

But the best way to fade tracks is on the PC using a program such as Audacity. It will let you precisely mark the section to be faded and apply a nice, smooth fade over the marked section. It can apply a much smoother fade than you could do manually on the BR, even if you had a fader control.

Well, I've tried this and it works!! All you have to do is while bouncing your tracks press UTILITY and then adjust the MasterLevel, controlling your fade. It's also possible to fade an individual track by adjusting its volume on Track Volume screen while boucing the song. In fact it is possible to adjust Reverb and Pan while bouncing. Thanks for the tip 64Guitars.

Yes, I am a newbie, was just wondering what the term "bouncing" was all about.  I am getting my micro BR for christmas and it is killing me waiting to get this toy in my posession.  Thanks for the anticipated answers.

Bouncing is mixing down all the tracks to a stereo one. It's a term used since cassette multitrack recorders came up. Bouncing is basically the same as connecting the output of a multitrack recorder to the input of a stereo recorder, recording it. Micro BR does this automatically and also in the procedure of bouncing you can add some cool effects, like fade in/fade out. So the stereo track you have mixed down will have all the original volumes and pannings of the 4 tracks plus fade in/fade out effects.
