Farrell Jackson

Hi all! My name is Farrell Jackson and I'm new to this site but not new to music. Here's a little about myself that I copied from the myspace page that I never go to anymore , lol.

Bio:
I've been playing for many years with the guitar as my main instrument. The acoustic guitar always manages to get into my music no matter the style. I record in my home studio to a Fostex VF160 16 track DAW. I think of my studio as my shop to build songs. I just let my musical mood take me in the direction of the day, so my songs are varied in styles and genres. I was an active, performing musician (band and solo) for several years but not since 2009. During that time I recorded in a few local production studios and the process always fascinated me. In the late 90's I bought an eight track standalone digital recorder and I was off and running. I was finally able to get all those original musical ideas layered to disc. A couple of years later I upgraded to 16 tracks but stayed with a standalone DAW. I still record on that Fostex VF160 at 16 bit...it's a real work horse! I suppose my style is mostly acoustic rock and classic rock. I use Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, and Takamine guitars. I strictly use tube amps, mostly Fender, but I have others. For mics I use Neumann, Akg, Shure, Electro Voice and MXL.

Members:
Farrell Jackson and varied guests
Influences:
Like many of us musicians that have been around for a long time, I would have to say The Beatles, The Animals, The Stones, Cream, The Allman Bros., Steppenwolf, and CSNY are probably my biggest influences. I love great sounding acoustic guitars, mixed with tasteful electrics, and melodic vocals with harmonies thrown in.
Sounds Like:
All my influences I guess but it really depends on the particular song.
Record Label:
Jaxonville Records
Label Type: My own Indie

I'm still finding my way around so I'm a bit lost at the moment so bare with me if I'm posting songs in the wrong places.....just let me know and I'll get it right. I've posted up a song called Orchid Faded Sky some where here, lol.

Thanks,

Welcome aboard, Farrell.

All songs should be posted in a new topic in one of the "Post Your Work" boards (Original Songs, Cover Songs, etc). See this message for more info:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=3609.msg94851#msg94851

In general, we prefer that members post songs they've recorded recently, rather than uploading older songs that already exist elsewhere on the web. You're welcome to post links to other sites where our members can check out your older material. Most members put such links in their signature. We also have an icon () that appears to the left of each of your posts where you can specify a single web site link. I've edited your profile and set this link to your SoundClick page. Feel free to change it to a different site if you prefer. If you need help with that or with adding links to your signature, send me a PM and I'll try to help you. I've also added the Fostex VF-160 graphic to your signature.

One or two older songs is okay, so please don't feel that you need to remove any of your posts. It's just that we've had problems in the past where a new member uploaded 20 or 30 songs which they recorded 10 to 20 years ago. That's not how we want to use our server space.

The two songs you've posted so far sound great! I'd love to hear some of your more recent recordings. Also, you might like to take part in our festivals. Every two months, we vote on two festival themes. The March/April themes are LocalFest (covers of songs by lesser known artists from your home country or state) and FaBFest (songs based on a film or book). All songs posted for the festivals are added to the festival jukebox which you can access by clicking one of the banners in the top-right of the page. There are still 11 days left if you want to record a song for one of those festivals. Voting for the May/June festivals begins next week.

Good Lord, man!  Just how old are you?  Why just this morning, I lamented the loss of my hair as well as the control of what should be my more discreet bodily functions.
