Dave and I are both big Bruce Cockburn fans so we discussed doing a song together. This song I discovered just recently and it really struck a chord with me. I'm not sure how well Bruce Cockburn is known outside of Canada but I think this qualifies for Local Fest...I'm pretty sure he's "lesser known" than Bryan Adams or Avril Lavigne.

Thanks for listening and a big thanks to Dave for his stellar guitar work on this.

Sandy.

Beautiful vocal there Sandy.  Guitar wise, that was a frigging hard song to play and not make any mistakes while recording, and it is one of Bruce Cockburns easier songs....the man is a guitar god....I had to find an easy one.........beautiful song from one of Canada's finest songwriters/guitarists.  Thanks for the idea Sandy, it was a beaut.  Turned out wonderful.

Great job guys. I don't know the song but I like your version. I'm really only familiar with Cockburn's hits (Wondering Where the Lions Are, Lovers in a Dangerous Time, If I Had a Rocket Launcher).

Don't know Bruce Cockburn's songs, but found this very enjoyable, from the (fingerpicked?) acoustic guitars, to the Moog touches, and topped with a fine vocal performance. Overall, it reminded me a bit of Robyn Hitchcock!  8)

Well done, Sandy and Dave!

Yup, the only way to play Bruce Cockburn is fingers.  Even used my fingers for the little solo, in keeping with BC's playing style.  I don't think he ever uses a pick.  The man is truly a fantastic guitar player, one of the best in the world in his fingerpicking style.  A guitar players guitar player.

I was in a car-pool with these guys from work, sharing the gas and drives.  I was driving one day, and playing my Bruce Cockburn CD that I made up, a bunch of my favorite songs of his over his long, long career.  And we listened on the way to work and the way home.  On the way home Eric turns to me and says, who is this?...Bruce Cockburn I say.....He says, "Nope, he does nothing for me"....I say, listen to his guitar playing....."Nope, don't care for it".......what about the fantastic songwriting...."Does nothing for me at all, I'd prefer if you didn't play his music again"............WTF, floored, flabbergasted........That was it for me, I got out of that car-pool, couldn't drive with this guy anymore, didn't like Bruce Cockburn, one of my absolute favorite singer/songwriter/guitarists.  The man should be a freaking national treasure like Maple Syrup.............I left that car-pool and have driven by myself ever since.
