Oxford's finest.  In my last job, as project manager for Harman Kardon, the Mini premium audio system was one of my projects, spent a lot of time at the Oxford plant.

Love this song, the drums are nicely recorded, everything works.

I think my life runs on 5/4 (when I'm watching the TV, I'm invariably tapping out a 5/4 rhythm on my fingers, drives my wife nuts).  Coincidentally, I posted a song in 5/4 yesterday https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=10874.0

Stupendous... funky... Great pacing, and great solo and outro too!  Leaves you wanting more!

Thanks for the kind comments my friends !!

It is a fun song to sing, but not easy! One thing is the 5/4 time signature, that I can cope with, but I stumble in all the words and some of the word combinations don't come very easy for a viking tongue :-[ so I cheated when recording the vocals and used at least 5 punch-ins to get it done.  I will practice it some more 'cause I want to be able to do it live and when it sits I might re-record the vocals (best estimate: summer 2014 ;D )

Quote from: Ferryman on April 11, 2011, 05:03:09 AMGreat fun but it could do with more paint bucket in the mix!
It could  ;) I recorded the drums using 4 microphones. The behringer B2 pro condencer 2 meters (that's 6 ft 6.7 inches for you stubborn people ::) ) from the drumset, two dynamic mics placed 5 cm (2 inches) from the bucket and a clip on mic for a guitar tuner clipped on a metal tea-box placed on the table beside the BR800 ;D

But even with two dedicated mics for the bucket, the other drums where dominating the recording. I will try to make a remix tho and experiment a bit with eq and compression to get more paint in the mix. I think maybe the bass needs a tad up and the guitar a tad down too. And maybe some tweaking on the vox .....  oh my !!! I'm going all bosko here  :o :o :o

Well ... no, that would be my little brother . (well he's not that little anymore, 2cm taller than me in fact, but much grayer ;D ;D )

Quote from: oldrottenhead on April 11, 2011, 05:20:30 AMi remember that song , that carpet those drums, jarle is your spitting image geir. drums are fab.  next time we are over you got to bring jarle too.
He would very much like to be a part of our next session !!! And then you'll see the only similarity between us is our height ;D ;D (well in my eyes at least)

Quote from: Bluesberry on April 11, 2011, 06:02:10 AM.....its like Bill freaking Bruford played the drums here.
well now I'll never get him down on the ground again !!!!! ;)

Quote from: Tony W on April 12, 2011, 08:41:48 AMI can't wait until the devil drives a subaru!
I almost bought a Subaru this winter, but ended up with a Toyota. I know the devil won't drive that one ;D

What is 5/4?

5/4 is when you can't stop counting at four ::) It's 5 beats per measure instead of the normal 4 (or 2) in most pop/rock songs or 3 in waltz.

Quote from: dasilvasings on April 11, 2011, 09:03:35 AMI remember this song very well. It was part of DaSilvaSings's Official 2010's Summer Holidays ...
