Monkey
I couldn’t believe it was Monkeys Funeral Toady, i couldn’t believe he had gone
Me and monkey had been about for quite a while, we’d gone everywhere together
We travelled the world
Me, an old monkey
We’d done a few things
He Knew me old Monkey. through and through
It’s really sad saying goodbye to him today
They carried him on he seemed so lonely
There were six of us there
Watching it

It was silent
You could hear the curtains running on the rail, as they went round the coffin
The Monkey was gone
No Music
There was no nothing
Just silence
It seemed an apt way really
There wasn’t anything you could say, is there
Nothing would have changed it
When Monkey was alive and well
He’d never turn down a party
He was full on
He wanted it every time
He had those full throttle hands
The ones that kept taking things and putting them in his mouth
There was no way of stopping them
I mean we couldn’t, even if we’d tried
He never thought of tomorrow
It was always the here and now for him
It’s like he realized one day
He knew he wouldn’t have one
You know, no more tomorrows
You’d live that way too wouldn’t you

Their all ganging up on him
And time was ganging up on him
Monkey only had a certain time left
Time was ticking and he knew it
All the amphetamine Monkey had taken, had made his heart bigger
Stronger
More powerful
People used to say he’d got such a huge heart
As they said in the mortuary
It was so powerful, his heart was enlarged
Of course big hearted Monkey
We loved him you know
It’s a shame to see him go
His heart got so big
So Big
It stopped working with him
They reckon  that is what took him
Now here we were six friends of Monkey in a crematorium
The curtains came round
There was silence
And Monkey had gone
