Quote from: Burtog on March 18, 2011, 06:24:24 AMThanks Greeny.

I'm glad you noticed the dynamics and loudness thing, I did feel this was something I found difficult to improve. I didn't do any work outside of the BR800, I didn't take the track to Sonar, that's something else to learn.
Is that something I should look to do??

Any general tips on improving loudness/dynamics/balance would be very much appreciated!!

I don't have a BR800, so I don't know what mixing capabilities it has. I tend to use the 'Mixdown' pre-set on the MBR which seems to have the right level of treble and presence to make stuff sound professional(ish). I'm not really an expert in this area though. I also tend to push the volume up a bit on mixdown. I guess if you do it in some kind of daw, you can see if there's any peaking going on so you don't over do it.

Looking forward to hearing more stuff... this really is top quality!

I missed this one somehow - Excellent performance, I love it! Great tune and excellent playing/singing - Love your voice.

I agree it could be louder, but that's probably just getting used to the equipment. Been messing with Tony's 800 and it's a great recording machine. I noticed it's less sensitive than my MicroBR (A great thing!), and I have to crank the knobs up a little bit more. But not to detract from you song, it's excellent!

Look forward to hearing another one from you!

Hey Burtog... First let me say this is an excellent take... as far as the vocal mix I have to agree it's a little in the background. Not sure on the 800, but if you can toggle through the effects during mastering on the 800 let your ear do the deciding. You should be able to brighten it up quite a bit. This is a real keeper and you nailed it just fine.
