Yes... I laid down a basic rhythm on my Pearl kit and then added one more track to fill in on the toms... then came over the top of those 2 tracks with the congas and then rattles.

Sorry for the shortness still tinkering to get "That Sound" that I cannot seem to figure out. Been reading up on the science of micing drums... never thought it could be so damn complicated.

So far in the studio... I have constructed all of the walls with 2" thick R7 Insulation board and then covered that with a suade material for acoustics in the room. I still need to pic up a couple of Stereo Overheads for the cymbals, but the kit is mic'd with SM 57's and Beta 52A on the kick. I use an Audix I5 on the snare. All drums are mixed through the Yamaha MW 12 cx. I have that lined into the DP 02 at the momment. I was curious how they would turn sound with compression from the Yamaha and then using some of the factory presets from the DP 02. Eventually I will end up editing the tracks in DAW of some sort. Just wanted to see what I could get straight out of the gate. I think I can do a ton of eq adjustments to get a better sound...this was just what I've accomplished thus far.

Thanks for all of the kind comments I will definately be posting my progress.

Don't get too bogged down in theory!!  Some of the greatest drum recordings consist of stereo overheads, a close snare and kick drum and that's it. Trust your ears. We only have two. Not seperate little bugs that litter themselves around the drums. Your drums sound great here!! Don't be afraid to experiment with the fewest number of mic's possible and a tad of compression here and there.

Phew, I thought I was going nuts, thinking how can programmed drums sound so good?  Not sure what sound you have in your head, but this already sounds pretty accomplished drum recording to me.

That new studio sounds like an exciting project - I'd love to see pictures...
