BR0800: Newbie questions about importing, fx and mastering!

I've got 5 or oldrottenhead's WAV files imported into a new song on my BR-800. Now.. these 5 were panned on Jim's mix so am I now right to assume that these 5 are unpanned in my song? I'll have to re-pan those to match Jims mix wont I?

The other issue I have is that I think Jim's WAV's have reverb on them. I want to use the BR-800's "master fx" on my final master mix - but surely, that will add reverb to Jim's existing reverb wont it? Can I selectively add master fx to 2 tracks out of the 7? In saying that... when I turn on the master fx and jam over the top... it sounds good to me.

So... amongst my jumbled thoughts are this:

I've got the 5 tracks in from Jim and saved to a song using tracks 1-5. Now I need to record 2 more tracks of my own. 1 bass, 1 lead. Do I just go ahead and use tracks 7 and 8? (or are these a stereo pair that cant be separated).

Its tricky business... but VERY fun  ;D

im sure you can import the instruments to the stereo pair tracks, just make sure they are panned full left and right. wavs i sent are all single tracks so mono, so you will need to pan, the keys should all be dry, but i sang vox with fornylon effect on, which gives a reverb and delay. hope that makes sense.

if i remember from seeing geirs br800 im sure it was same wav convertor as mbr. if that is the case.

stick eden piano to say tracks 5 and 6, brass to tracks 7 and 8. pan track 5 full left, track 6 full right track 7 full left track 8 full right. send vox to track 4 pan centre. then you have tracks 1, 2 and 3  free to add to.

does that make sense.

Yes indeed... makes sense... will continue to tinker.

Then, I'll stop murdering your track with "lead guitar players syndrome" and try recording something!  :D

James is right. And using track 5/6 and 7/8 as the stereo tracks they will automatically be panned right.

If James has used reverb (when will he ever learn ;D) then don't add too much more on his tracks.

The master FX applies to all the tracks, but you can use insert effects on the tracks you want. Just select the location to be tre tracks you want affected.

Understood! Thanks chaps.

Now... to make sure the wee man gets to bed early so I can get some peace & quiet! Thanksfully, I bought myself a pair of Sennheiser HD-202's!  :P

;D Aye... the wife's given in  ;D All set up and working away!

Discovered that you cant move mono tracks to the stereo slots.. you can only copy to tracks 1-4. So... fresh "song" and I'm sorted. Imported as you said into the stereo tracks 5-6 & 7-8 with Jims vocals on 4. Leaves me with 1-3 to play over.

I assume my final mix can go to a V track on 7-8 since the base 7-8 is in use??

Been having fun with a 5 string bass on it... the lead will be trickier. Needs holding back to let those sparkles through from the keys...

Hope to have something by tomorrow night. Thats the plan anyway...

You can move 1/2 and/or 3/4 to 5/6 or 7/8 ! (That is you must copy and delete as there is no move feature :( )

By default the mastering ends up in 7/8 virtual track 8 (called TR78-VMST), but that can be changed if desired.

Glad to hear your in business for some music :) :D
