I'm new to this so I hope I did it right. If not someone please tell me how to fix what I did wrong.

This is something simple I did for looking for new people to play with. Just a little groove that can be used as a starting point and evolve. I would love to hear what you guys would add to it. I only play bass and my drum machine sux so it sounds verry empty at the moment. each section lasts about 1 min feel free to extend or shorten parts. Also I don't know why it is called "downhome" If you add to it and want to change the name feel free.

Hi Thumpthump.

As a fellow bassist i can relate to this track, you've done a great job recording it.  Like all naked bass tracks though it's very sparse and you're going to struggle getting anyone to play along.

There's a really neat bit of software called Hydrogen, it was intended for use with Ubuntu, but there is a windows version out now and it's a reall good drum pattern arranger. You can export the pattern as a WAV and import it into Audacity or the like and use that to add a rhythm track. You are likely to have more success (and more fun) if you have the drum track to work with.

It's how I started the track I did with ORH recently.  https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=10344.0

flash is giving good advice, even if you play along  to a click track or drum loop, folk would find it easier to add to. then you could remove click or drum loop and get someone to create a drum track at same beat for minute and add that into the mix.

Thanks for the tip, I will have to check that out. I'm glad atleast the concept got through to a couple people. I didn't know how something so plain and empty would be recieved with some of the awesome work I have heard on here.

If you played this to a click track and have the BPM, or redo it to a click track I'll help you work something up - I thought the progression was pretty good.

Peace,

Sounds good ThumpThump, but like the others said it's easier to add to it if it's done to a click-track or drums. One thing I've done on previous collaborations is to record the instrument together with a clicktrack and then pan the instrument (bass in your case) hard left and the clicktrack hard right in a stereo mix. I that way the one's addind to it can keep time and the click-track can be replaced by a drumtrack.

hope that made sence and that you post a new track soon !!! I can also add something if you and Mark come up with something and want some Viking addition to your tune ;D !!
