I just basically finished up a song i was eager to post and now i can`t cuz my - value button is on the stuck side. It has put the MBR on lockdown. I know i will have to open it up but i can`t find a precision screwdriver right now. >:(

But my question is when i do open it what is the best thing for me to do?

is there a safe fluid i can use?

There is a fluid made just for electronics. Can't remember the name thu..I'll see if I can locate it.

Electrolube board cleaner. Watch it though, it's a chlorinated hydrocarbon, probably carbon tetrachloride. Try not to breathe the fumes.

Upon opening it up i have learned that the module that controls the value button is dented in..

Wish me luck but i think this is unfixable!!

If the switch is still good, can't you just put it back together without the bad button? Then fab something with a nub on the end to drop in the hole? You could at least use it.

Just a thought...

I just looked at Geir's photo:

So is it the button that depresses SW18/SW19 or is it the switch itself?

What a shame a little thing like that can totally kill the whole unit...

Yes Yes!!

after a lil depression yesterday it hit me to do that!! I was going to cut the button and do it manually sticking something in there but now i`m going to try and stick something longer at the end so it hits and i don`t have to wreck it.

I`m going to take pics and describe my procedure so if it happens to anyone else, but first i want to do it get it together and post this damn song. The best part is i won`t have to get another one.
As long as it records and i can do with it what its supposed to do..Who cares!!

Thanks Mark

I'm not sure how hard it is to remove and replace those switch domes, but maybe you could swap the dented dome with the one from the A-B switch, which you probably don't use much anyway. Then your VALUE switches would work properly and you could rig up some kind of kludge for the A-B switch if you still want to be able to use it occasionally.

Good idea 64 but those switch domes are very fragile..i tried to undent the one and it just broke off like nothing. You`d have to be a pro in electronics to fix those little domes and they are sooo small, i would probably throw the thing out of frustration..haha

I`m gonna try and do something right now..wish me luck! :-\
