I added the marching beat because life is giving him orders, and he's obeying although internally resisting.

I'll be back once I get a less cheesy snare drum...

This is really good!  It's a shame it's been ignored for one-and-a-half years!

Did you ever redo this with a different drum sound?

Fuzz, whats up.  He posted like 30 songs in one mad rush over about a week.  It was hard to keep up with them all.  I thought I got them all, I guess I missed this one.  There is a lot of out-there creativity at work here.  And, yes, it works.  Great song.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

I kept reworking it until I finally decided it sounded best without the drums.
Here is the "final cut" (same as above minus the cheesy snare drum).   It's way better.

I sensed what you were after with the "cheesy snare drum," and it definitely would have been very cool if you could have pulled it off right.

One of my favorite albums for its drumming is Susanne Vega's first album.  If you are familiar with it, your first thought might be, "There aren't any drums on that album."  Ah, but there are!  Wonderfully understated drums.  I'm too much of a drumophile to ever achieve anything that subtle and tasteful.  It may have been the right decision on your part to leave the drums out.
