I am a huge fan of dissecting classic songs and trying to reproduce them as faithfully as possible.

I can imagine the hours you spent picking out each part. That is no small feat even for a simple song.
To tackle this and reproduce it so well - that takes a freaking master!!

I'm not a beach boys fan at all, but I will be listening to this one for a long time to come.

Hey, all.  I am the guy who did the harmonies and mixing.  Thanks for all of your amazing comments, it was a fun project.  When Rich emailed me and told me he was covering the song and needed some harmonies, I told him "Good Vibrations?  I am all OVER it!"  I was very excited to have the chance to do a wall of vocals on this song, as it is one of my favourite harmony arrangements ever.  A new microphone was delivered to me on the afternoon I did the vocals (16 tracks of them), what a fine way to break it in.

I had worked with Rich in the past on a few collaborations, and it was always a treat to work with him as he is a talented musician who pays a lot of attention to detail.  That proved to be a little frustrating with GV, the song went through several revisions, and it took 10-12 hours to mix overall.  But man, was it ever worth it.  I am as proud as Rich is, and I didn't even play a note on it.

I hope to work with Rich again in the future, maybe as a session musician on some of his original stuff.  What do you think, Rich?

16 tracks of harmony vocals  . . . I had no idea . . . wow  . . . I'm impressed!  Perfect synching there.  Now how do I learn how to do harmonies? (if it doesn't come naturally)
