Hello All,

I heard this song for the first time recently, and the lyrics just kept it playing in my head, so I have attempted a recording, (and 64 gave me a wee push to post something).
Still got work to do on it, my mate has done some mandolin, so that still needs mixed in, and I hear a fairly simple "marching" drum, on the chorus "again in my head", its in 3/4 time so the mbr or 800 won't do it, I tried with the drum arranger program (thanks for your help Geir), but unfortunately with no real success, so if anyone wants to help and add drums , please feel free or let me know, and I can send the seperate tracks.

Its just me and my guitar just now, with harmonies supplied by the 800, (not sure about them now) Ive listened to it too often now, it needs a fresh set of ears.

Cheers

Ronnie

This is great! You always find the nicest songs to cover and they always seem to be songs that I'd never heard before but I instantly love them, and this is no exception.

The Micro BR can't do 3/4 because it only has preset patterns and they're all in 4/4. The BR-800's preset patterns are also all 4/4 but you can create your own custom patterns in any time signature you like. I probably won't have time tonight, but tomorrow I'll throw together a sample pattern or two in 3/4 and tell you how to use them in the BR-800 and/or the BR Rhythm Editor.

As an example, the drums in my Doctor Who theme cover are in 3/4. I created them in my BR-864. I'm sure they're not quite the style you're looking for but it shows that BRs can do 3/4 or any other time signature. You just have to create your own patterns instead of using the preset patterns.

Very nice, Ronnie. I've never heard this before, but I like what you've done with it. The harmony vocals sound fine; I would not have guessed that it wasn't you or another singer hitting the high notes.

Excellent job on that. The harmonies work really well too. I always knew this song as "No Man's Land".

It's somewhat coincidental for me to hear this one. I ripped the album just last week after not having heard it for over 20 years. We heard an Irish band play this song at an Irish festival here in Jindabyne, Australia. It prompted Kayla to buy herself an Irish Tin Whistle which she is picking up quite quickly. I'll post something when i can get her to record with me.

What key are you playing in? The tin whistle only works in D or G.
Just a roadie again.....

I love this type of song but my voice isn't clean enough to do them myself.

Yours vox is clear and on key all the way.  Wonderful playing and singing, the purest form of the art.  This is really well done and thanks for posting.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll maybe leave the harmonies in then...

I didnt know that the BR800 could do drum arrangements outside the 4/4 pattern 64G, I assumed it was the same as the MBR, I would really appreciate a guide to creating arrangements (when you get time) in 3/4 especially, as a lot of the songs I do are 3/4.

Bag: I came across this song as "The Green Fields Of France" but have since seen it titled "Wille McBride" and also "No Mans Land", so to be honest I'm not 100% on it's correct title.

I recorded the guitar part of the song in several keys to find one that I could get away with singing in, this one seemed to suit my limited vocal range best, I think its in F, which is a pity as the addition of an Irish tin whistle would sound brilliant.

Cheers

According to WikiPedia, it was originally written as "No Man's Land" in 1976 by Eric Bogle. But in 1979, The Fureys covered it as "The Green Fields of France" for their album of the same name. Since then, it has been covered many times under both names, as well as "Willie McBride".
