Kiss Me - Sixpence None The Richer

It's been a long time since I've recorded anything at all or been on this site. Life's been a bit hectic what with moving 900km south to a new town and new job just before Christmas. We've gone from sub-tropical beach living on the NSW mid-north coast to the Snowy Mountains of NSW and will hopefully get some skiing in this year.

There's some fantastic new recordings on the site that i haven't heard, especially the acoustic version of "Cum on feel the noise" that i just listened to. Wow!

This one is not in that league..... i was simply recording an instrumental of "Kiss Me" so Maddie could practice her singing without having to play guitar at the same time. It was also a chance to test out my new Cort NDX20 with a Fishman 4T Blend pickup (piezo pickup and internal mic in the guitar body). I simply plugged it into the MBR and turned it to all microphone and no piezo. It worked OK....... not as nice as using an external mic and recording real acoustic but this way i don't need total silence to do a bit of recording.

When i put down the guitar track (with at least one fluffed chord i couldn't be bothered fixing) little Maddie (7) wanted to put down a vocal track, and then Kayla (now 10) wanted to do some backing vocals. I decided to put a little solo in as well.

Everything is one take, the kids attention span is short and once they've heard themselves once they find more fun things to do. I suppose my attention span is a little short too as i haven't taken much time to do a decent recording or mastering so it's all pretty raw.

Nice to hear you and your talented kids back! You could be the new Osmonds/Jackson 2/Partridge Family with all that talent. This is just so lovely, I like the immediacy and simplicity. Fluffs did not show or spoil the experience.
