In truth the notes the piper plays,
Are never yours, you never paid,
His flute is mean, his breath stone cold,
Too late to change, with your stolen gold,

The fickle fates silk thread is frayed,
Despite their work, it's all dismay,
In the undoing of your dream,
You see your life, as it could have been.

Bleeding hearts and fractured dreams,
We hide the pain with soundless screams,
Our souls endure, our hearts can not,
"til your anguished lives, fill a vacant plot.

Buddy, brother, man, sweet god man, this is fantastic.  The one who goes by Gu Djin has pulled a magic sunbeam out of his arse here, so very good, magic sunbeams sprinkled with magic blues dust and a pinch of protest folk...I love this side of your musical girth Leigh, lets have some more like this.....please......longer........more.........

What a great sound , but BB's hit the nail on the head , why so short , they say good things come in small packages , but.
Seriously though , i really like the sound you've achieved here , is that a 12 string , and the lyrics are wonderfull , sung with such feeling , an all round gem , 10/10

Thanks Jim, BB, and Rob.

I had an idea of a group of songs about .... !   "Exit Strategy" was the overall title, gloomy yes, but it was more about getting just rewards than meeting the grim reaper.

The first verses were originally part of a five verse "blues style" song, but I didn't feel quite comfortable with the fit, so took them out and tinkered with them a bit and then added the final verse.  I had intended to repeat the last verse, but on reflection I felt it sounded a bit odd repeating the end.  The end.  The end.  And that's one of the reasons it is short!

There are four tracks with acoustic guitar on (plus a duplicated track)- one of those also contains the vocal, plus an acoustic bass track.  Only the the drum tracks (2) are not recorded through a single mic. Nothing was DI'd.  The drum were midi and tapped out on my Nanopad.

Equip: Samson condenser mic,  Line 6 Ux2(bright and clear patch), GarageBand(added chorus to a duplicate of the guitar and vox track slightly panned offcentre), Walden acoustic guitar, Dean acoustic bass guitar, Korg Nanopad triggering drums on the GB Boldt standard drums).  Mixed down on GB using Rock live patch slightly tweeked.

I did use my 12'ver on my first attempt, but it seemed to fill the recording too much so I downsized to my 6 string but recorded it over four tracks, which gave me more control over where I could place them in the stereo field.

Ah I feel better and getting all that out of the way.

Thanks for the listen

Love the strumming pattern you have used here Leigh, and that 12 string sounds sweet.
Like the others, I was left wanting more at the end.

Very excellent tune and i agree on that strumming. Gives an old 60`s vibe to it!!

I just think it could of been longer but it`s a great tune!!
