This was my first ever song that i wrote , and when i recorded it , i knew nothing about recording techniques , hence i overloaded it with reverb on every bounce and it sounded as though i did it in a sewer pipe , i wanted to re-record it as a simple acoustic track
The idea for this song came from having regression hypnosis a few years ago to discover ,what , if anything had caused me to have a slight speech impediment when i was younger , and it turned out that i had started a fire in a corn field when i was around 9 years old , trapped myself in , and just about escaped with minor burns , i ran all the way home and hid in a trash can , where i stayed for a good few hours , in agony , but scared half to death with the thought of what my parents would do to me when they found me.
Anyway , the guy took me back through my past (the walking down a forest path , is taking you backwards through your life) but had to bring me back out of the hypnosis when i started screaming with panic at the point of this incident , the lyrics , i hope tell the story better

Where he once began
Close your eyes , I'm going to Count to ten,
put you'r head back in the chair
Just relax , and I'll begin , very soon you will  not care

Down a forest path , you walk , look around what do you see
There are faces , but they don't talk,
do they look like you and me

chorus
Oh i can hear people shouting
Don't worry we'll find him if we can
He must be around here somewhere
He went back to where he once began

Walking back into your past , recognizing things that were
Buried deep , no shadows cast
Old memories , begin to stir

Oh i can hear people shouting
Don't worry we'll find him if we can
He must be around here somewhere
He went back to where he once began

The panic starts to swell within,
Not knowing , which way to turn
Start counting backwards , I'll begin
Before the fire starts to burn

Oh i can hear people shouting
Don't worry we'll find him if we can
He must be around here somewhere
He went back to where he once began

He's scared and shaking , like a leaf
But In the dark he won't be found
He needs to have  some self belief
But by his actions he'll be bound

Oh i can hear people shouting
Don't worry we'll find him if we can
He must be around here somewhere
He went back to where he once began

Ahhhhhhh, I loved this one before and even more so now.  You have all the tools in place now.  How are you liking that wavedrum?  It sounds really good here.  This is the best thing I have heard in a while, thats what I say.  I love your style Rob.   Take a bow, you did it good here.

Top song Rob, love the chord combinations in this one. Those drums sound fabulous too.
It would have been easy to add more instruments to this, but I like the fact that you didn't, keeping it to just acoustic guitar and drums...it works perfectly.

Great lyrics too...they tell the story so well.

It goes without saying that your vocal is top drawer!

Going back for a third listen now...superb stuff!

This has just the right balance of fragility. It's bloody wonderful, Rob. Some of those chord changes are to die for, and as always, your vocal is magnificent. The stripped-back guitar / drum combo is lovely too. Stunning song!

nice storytelling... reminds me of two of my best friends - they burned a field down when we were 12 playing with fire. A great way to tell a story, good description in 3rd person of a 1st person event.
Okay to cover.

Brilliant Rob, there's quite a Floyd-ish feel here. Wonderful vocals and lovely storytelling, very evocative. The Wave drum works really well and the striped down approach is great.

Cheers,
