another one where the vocals where done in southport back in september. the lyric was inspired by the drive down. i was following my work colleague gordon in the car behind, i didn't go in front cos i didn't know where we where going, it transpired neither did he.

we where in southport for a week. a week after we got home gordon died suddenly in his sleep, when i hear this song i smile and think of gordon.

this one's for you big yin.

I don't know where I'm going
I don't know where I am
I'm playing follow the leader
And he doesn't know either
I lost him at the last corner
I took the wrong turning
And now I'm flying solo
I took the wrong turning
And now I'm flying solo
On my own

I'm sure we've been here before
I think I'm going in circles
I ditched the back seat driver
And now I'm none the wiser
I took the wrong turning
And now I'm flying solo
I took the wrong turning
And now I'm flying solo
Where do I go
Does anyone know
You all give me different directions
Is it any wonder
That I can't find my way
find my way
find my way
find my way
to where I'm going
to where I'm going
where am I going
where am I going
I took the wrong turning
And now I'm flying solo

whit goes oan in ma heid

Wow, this is a spine tingler, amazing chord changes and guitar work, Jim your vox are wonderful here and the back story just makes it more poignant. Really sharp production on this one as well, sounds fantastic. Love that really fuzzed out sound creeping across the stereo image. Great bass going on there as well (but could be a bit louder for me......).

I did think it was going to be "In My Life" when it started, but it goes in a completely different direction. It's an absolute belter!!!

Cheers,

As always, I can never imagine what James is going to do with the raw Jemima's Kite guitar tracks. But this really came out NOTHING like I envisaged, lol. And I mean that in a very good way. It's a real grower too... I can't stop listening to it now that the bad-ass bass has been added. And then came the tragic story that has put the song in yet another new light. Lots of layers of evolution.

Couldn't stay away, I'm just loving this, it's really quite special. I think it's the combination of the wonderful music and the real poignancy of what Jim wrote before his friend died so unexpectedly. It's just sending shivers up and down the old spine again.

Some harmonies on the choruses would be some more icing on a very lovely cake.

I was going to add some, then I wasn't. Then it got posted 'as is'. You're right though - I'll see what I can come up with!

good stuff boys. I look forward to some harmonies in the chorus. This one is quite special.

Have to agree, this really is a special song. Musically it is as tight as a drum, fantastic guitar melodies that are backed up with some top quality bass work.
The vocal is outstanding, delivered as a fitting tribute.
Would be interested to hear some harmonies, as have a feeling they could take this song to an even higher plain.
One listen is not enough, it just grows on you this!

What a lovely song , with such a sad topic , just goes to show how fragile our lives really are , at least this song will be an epitaph for you friend Jim , beautifull Kite addition

Great lyrics + Great music = Great song. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Okay to cover.

Great song period. I love the underlay of music, the guitar work is utterly superb. I love the bass line as well. that faint lead melody guitar cuts through like a knife.

Jim as usual great vocal treatment and such a tragic topic.
