Micro BR-recording dry track and then reinserting the effects?

Hello, I am back to using the Micro BR after fighting the urge to smash my computer and POD.

I have been recording guitar with the effects inserted after the recording, so I have a dry track, I import this to the computer and use my VSTs and reamp the tracks with great results.

My question is:  can I do this and reinsert the effects so I hear them when played back?  The way I am doing it now, I record rhythm but when I go to the record the next track I have to solo over a dry boring guitar. I would rather hear all the effects but not record them.  It sounds good later but it isn't enjoyable while recording.  Thank in advance for any help.

Yes, you can record dry while listening with effects. Just change the effects Location setting to INPUT <REC DRY>. See pages 66 and 67 of the Micro BR manual, 4th edition.

Thanks.  I must have been doing something wrong before.  I got it working now.  I am getting results reamping this thing with Izotope Trash after recording dry tracks.  Thanks for all of your help on this forum, you are a whiz at these things.  Boss should buy you a house or something.

Well, I hit a snag again.  I was recording 1 track before when I had it doing what I wanted, but when I do multitracks I am stuck.

first, I record a guitar track with the effect on DRY.  I hear the effect while playing but it doesn't record it.  Perfect

Second, I play the track after I record it, it is dry.  I want to hear the effect while doing the next track, so I go to           effects and move it from DRY to Track 1.  Now when I record on Track 2 I hear the effect playing on track 1.

Third, I play both back and realize that by moving the effect to track 1, I now have no effect on track two on play back.  I can move the effect to Master and have the same effect on all tracks but that is the best I can do.

In a perfect world I would like to record 4 tracks, all with different effects post/Dry that are able to be monitored on playback, and then when I export the tracks from the card onto my computer I would just have 4 dry tracks.
I am starting to understand better how the effects work on this and begining to think that I am asking for too much.
Thanks again for everyone's help.

alas it's not a perfect world ...

but ... don't loose all hope. What you can do, is to do a bounce of your dry track (T1V1) to virtual track T1V2, using the effect. Then you can listen to that one while recording the rest. .... and repeat the same for the other tracks.:
