Mixing our own songs is always a bad idea, as we are biased and have listened to them far too much. I usually have no big problems mixing other people's songs, but I struggle with mine.

Indaba Music (http://www.indabamusic.com) has some pretty cool tools that allow people to share tracks, and anyone participating in a song can come up with their own mix.

I've not had the same success on Indaba as I have here both engaging in a community, and collaborating. But the tools on Indaba are definitely intriguing.

I used to spend some time there, but it wasn't for me. I've always found Indaba complicated and slow, and finding people to collaborate with wasn't easy.

As for the tools: I found them pretty useless then, and others seemed to agree, but if I'm not mistaken they have put a lot of work into a better interface recently. Maybe they are better now. But if they still use Flash, I cannot use them anyway. Adobe's Flash implementation for Linux is too buggy and makes the browser freeze.

Oh, and I think they (used to?) have a size limit at Indaba.

At the other sites I'm at the folks simply attach the seps (as lossless FLAC or APE) to the threads, or they post links to free file hosters where they upload their seps. That's the easiest way to do it IMO. And you need not join a project to be allowed to download the files. You simply download them, and if you like, you can post your mix (or master) to the thread. No pressure, no obligations. :)

This is a beautiful, soothing little rainy day number. You are such a gifted and prolific song writer. You are an inspiration.

Btw, are you a "signed" artist? If not, you most certainly need to be.

I re-recorded it. Don't know if it's better or not, but it has more clarity to my ears, and is slightly more subtle. This is a rare event - I really, really hate re-recording anything. I'd rather leave it and move on to the next thing  :)

yeah Tim, I really dig the remake, and I agree that it has more clarity. Right from the opening note. Lovely song man. I listened to the remake first, and am listening to the original posted version now. I might have to give it a few more listens.

I love that bass work.

Wow on so many levels! What a wonderfully atmospheric song. That slide-like lead guitar, the brilliant first verse ... this has all the makings of something that could attract a big audience. Powerful and sophisticated folk/pop - a winner!
Oh, and great balance of guitars - I'm noticing that more on my second listen.

Tangled Wires

I just noticed that I hadn't commented on this, despite listening to it previously.

Fabulous song..yet again..I think I am running out of superlatives for you now!

I actually like the bass as it is, I think it blends with the guitars really well.

Can't wait for next Monday ;D
