It is now coming up to a year since I bought my Boss recording gear and pulled all my music items out of strorage for the first time in about 5 years.
Since that day I have written 49 songs on my ownsome or with others.  This is Number 50.
From now on it is less songs from me, up the quality of sound and lyrics, listen to more songs on here and then comment more.
Thats my belated New Years Resolution, now we are all sorted in our new home.

First, congratulations on a milestone!
Nice song - tempo and instrumentation just right for an emotional number like this. Your vocal is very strong, too.
I thought a slide/pedal steel guitar was going to pop up at around 1:15, which would have been a delightful, bittersweet embellishment. The electric piano/tinkling bell sound you use has a similar effect on me.
Good job - keep 'em coming!

I'm having my morning coffee and listening this a bit melancholy, but very fine and catchy song! The melody is outstanding beautiful! Your vocals works completely on this, as always! The keys gives a good flavor on this!

Congrats for the milestone, too!

It's a very beautiful song Geoff, and very well performed. Touching story as well. There's a lot to congratulate here. 50 songs written, settling into a new home, and most importantly getting all your musical instruments out of storage.

Geoff, this is a wonderful song and I love the way your recorded the vox, they spread really well across the stereo image. Very nicely sung and played as well, a great achievement. 50 songs in a year? You're up there with TC!

I'm the opposite of you - I hardly produce any music (perhaps 5 songs a year?), I must find time to do more!

Cheers,

Nigel

Thank you for your kind comments.
There is a real life story behind the song which I read in the press the other day and was deeply touched. The beautiful wife of a personality in the Uk had an operation in 2002 which was bodged. She ended up on life support machine for six weeks, but finally came off it and lived a further 7 years needing a lot of daily healthcare. Her husband was left to look after her and their 4 young children. He fell into the gambling and alcohol trap, and shortly after her death was declared bankrupt and lost their millionaire lifestyle. A real life drama which I only touched on briefly.

PS - The number of songs put out by Nigel (Ferryman) may not be huge but they are of the highest standard and a benchmark for me to work towards for production level.

Such a sad story, and a really moving recounting of it in your lovely song. Fine music and performance.
Good work, Geoff.  :)
