i did this noodle in an attempt to make a solid body electric bass guitar sound like an acoustic double bass.

for what i have to work with, it continues to be an elusive sound for me.

and while this sounds close, a double bass it is not.

ohhhh...... is that a GAS pain i just felt???

the bass came first and filled it in with the keys and percussions so it wouldn't be so bland.

thanks for listening.

HI nice jazz type of song felt the keys could have been more dominant
somewhat closer to the beggining of song or a bit offer. but over all
a great jazz type bluesy sound like d it . deserves a thumb sup and a bump

Excellent jazz impro, the bass sounds really cool to me and the piano, gives some light and shade a great listen.

The percussion splashes and piano are placed just right - giving a bit of context without overwhelming that sweet bass sound. Felt like I was in a dark club, knocking back a stiff drink (well, I'm doing that) while slowly bobbing my head and digging this mellow groove.

You are very close to your goal. It might be as near as some EQ tweaks.

When I've attempted a similar feat, I used string bends to make my intonation less fretty. I also plucked nearer to the neck, and with the sides of my fingertips--almost with a little knuckle on the string.  If nothing else, it makes me feel like I'm playing an upright bass.

I really like the bass sound you've achieved. Don't forget whatever set up you used to get it as you continue your quest to simulate an upright.

I don't know if this is as high-end as you are aiming for, but it's what I've got, and I'm pretty happy with it, but I still don't think it simulates an upright that well:

It comes with round-wound strings, which I like. But flat-wound strings would probably get me closer to that upright sound.

This mr2kewl trio is getting real! I can see you playing when I close my eyes.

I hate comparisons, but this reminds me the Brad Mehldau trio in late 90. They are all professional and top level technical musicians, but their music share a sense of intimacy with yours!

For general knowlege, here's them playing radiohead:

Regarding the double-bass sound, i really suggest you get flatwound strings. Or you can also get nylon (?) strings that are coated with a black substance I don't know and sound a lot double-bassier. Just ask fo black coated strings.
