This is VERY VERY COOL Tim!!!
I miss all that 80's Synth Stuff. Pre MTV stuff.
Well done.
I picture that Washed out all white Video to go with this tune.

Yeah, like this a lot Tim. I've got foxes who visit my garden and make that awful howling noise but I never thought I'd hear a song written about it. Love the retro feel and it just so happens I've got an old Yamaha keyboard that after listening to this beauty may well be dragged out of retirement. Top notch...............Willie

Perfect EMU sounds on this! You really can write tunes in so many genres! This is very similar stuff as the songs that was played on MTV in early 80's! Catchy song indeed!

A very catchy EmuFest song, Tim! (erm, not that this is out of character for you)  8)

To me, it's got a bit of a glam-rock basis to it, at least in the lyrics. I also appreciate the effort of playing all the keys yourself (no MIDI/sequencers) - I like to do that myself, and I think it usually hangs together better in a recording.

Brilliant! I'm afraid the lyrics had me giggling, not sure if that's what you meant, but the combination of electronic imagery and the subject matter is quite wonderful! Love all the retro sounds and feel, I'm like you, this doesn't actually sound that retro to me as I listen to stuff like early Kraftwerk, Cluster and Popol Vuh all the time.

Wonderful Emusfest entry sir. Now all you have to do is to convince the "Fleet Foxes" they should change the first word in their name to something more appropriate and cover this song!

Cheers,

Nigel

This is great! I love it when you do something a little different. Your 80's style singing (à la Spandau Ballet) is totally awesome!

Quote from: Greeny on January 20, 2011, 02:23:24 AMIt's quite weird playing 'retro' stuff like this, as it doesn't feel retro to me at all. It's just like going back to where I started in 1981. This is pretty much the same as I did back then!

It shows. This sounds like you're in your element. Of course the guitar-based music you do sounds that way too.

I didn't know that zoological factoid. Maybe that's where the idea for Rapex came from:

Quote from: http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/controversy-in-south-africa-over-device-to-snare-rapists/2005/09/01/1125302683893.html
Dubbed the "rape trap", trademarked "Rapex", the condom-like device bristling with internal hooks designed to snare rapists has re-ignited controversy over South Africa's alarming rape rate, even before plans for its production were announced in Western Cape this week.

Some say the inventor, Sonette Ehlers, a former medical technician, deserves a medal, others that she needs help.

The device, concealed inside a woman's body, hooks onto a rapist during penetration and must be surgically removed.
