You seem to have a thing for single cutaway guitars with a wine/red colour finish. Have you looked at the Godins yet? My xtSA is also a single cutaway with a wine/red colour finish:

The actual colour is darker than shown in this picture, though not quite as dark as the Ibanez and PRS models you mentioned.

Try it. You'll like it!

Godin has several other models with the same shape and colour if you're not keen on the xtSA for some reason.

I did try everyone's suggestions... the Godins, the Telecasters, the Danelectros.

In the end I can't say why I gravitated the way I did.

I appreciated having the suggestions.  I may go on another expedition to try them some more because I don't want to rush my decision.

I'm not looking for an interim guitar.  I am looking for my definitive guitar.

That, my friend, will never happen. Unless you have tremendous amounts of cash and can afford to have one custom built. By Paul Reed Smith. Or Leo Fender. Or Lester Polfus. Or Barry Takamiene. I made that last name up.

I bought my Ibanez ST300 32 years ago. And it's still my main electric guitar. ;) 8)

Hey... I like the look of it.  I will have to add it to my "test drive" list.

Not sure about that Ibanez ART100. I came away from trying it out and thought it FELT every it as cheap as the tag. Didn't want to stay in tune for nothing and the pups were "eh". If you like that style, you might go a little higher and try an ART300

Still not as good as that PRS, but felt much better than the ART100. :)
