Title: First Post ... New Tune ... needs vocals / lead guitar.
Post by: Kenny B on December 28, 2010, 02:43:24 PM
Hi,

I came across this forum about a week ago and was blown away
by what I found.  I have some instrumental tunes I've worked on
that are not as good as what I've heard here.  I also have been
writing some lyrics but have not been able to find people to work
with.  I'm not sure if vocalists prefer to write their own lyrics or would
be willing to sing someone else's.  I'm attaching a tune which needs
lyrics/vocals and guitars.  I'm open to suggestions and could use
some help.  Let me know what you think.  I haven't written any lyrics
for this, but the working title was "Soul" or "She has soul" if this helps.

Thanks,  Kenny B.

Welcome.  I like this a lot!

You'll have no trouble finding collaborators here if you are looking for them.

On what kind of equipment was this recorded?

Hi Kenny, you have found a really fun spot to hang out.  I really like your bass line there.  Great track.

Welcome, Ken. You won't have any difficulty finding musicians to assist you here. It is a fun place to be. Lots of highly creative and motivated folks here.

Nice bed track. I think I will play about with it, see what calls out to me.

My apologies to Speed demon. I didn`t see you wanted to noodle with this. I don`t want to steal anyones thunder.  Like to hear you.

And to Geir and Jim.

If you guys want to do versions too, i`d like to hear them. Nothing wrong with different styles on one song if Kenny doesn`t mind that? Sorta like henwrench`s Life of a Bubble  ;D

I still have a couple days till i probably post being New year`s and all. I`m gonna try to do it all tonight though.

Great track Kenny!!

Took a break from trying to record something myself, decided to listen to this. Your recording is much, much better than mine is going to be ...
I like the bit of wah-wah spaciness on the guitar, a cool touch for this kind of song. The verses in my mind were the faster, more straight-ahead rock parts and the chorus was the slowed-down part with the tasty groove. The chorus put me in mind of Hall and Oates' '80s hits, maybe because of the word "soul" in you title.
I was scat-singing it with a bunch of do-do-dos and the title "She's Got Soul." Or maybe "She's Got My Soul" or "She Stole My Soul," because your sort-of-dark chord progression makes me think she's witchy and she put some kind of hex on the narrator.
Good stuff - can't wait to hear what happens with it.

No apology necessary. Go ahead and work your magic on this tune.
Perhaps we might even work out some enharmonic licks together.

Hey ... I'd be honored to hear anyone and everyone interested in working with this!
You guys seem to work very well with each other and I sense an incredible amount
of respect amongst this group.  You'll have to excuse me because I've been living
in a vacume for a long time.  I've been trying to find ambitious musicians interested
in creating for a long time locally and was about to give it up again.

Anyway, feel free to do whatever you want.  If need be, we can probably
rearrange the verses and/or chorus's to fit vocals and leads if needed.

Thanks, Kenny B

Once you get addicted to this place and YOU WILL, you`ll feel like you know everyone. Some people have MET each other and i have YET too, but hopefully i will some day. ;)

Holdempok, go for it! I will quietly add the screaming guitar. It will be hemorrhaging from the neck by the time the song is over.

Take no prisoners!

OK ... just wrote this.  It's not much and I can't figure out how
it would fit,  so if you can make anything out of it or if it influences
you in anyway... go for it.

Not so sure, where you're at
Not so sure, where you've been
Found your way, back again
Found your way, found your kin

You've been gone, for many years
Closed your eyes and covered your ears
At times you felt, you didn't care
Couldn't even, shed a tear

Feeling strong, Feeling bold
Feeling young, You still got soul.

A little delay for my version. I`m sick. Guitars are almost done though. Can`t try and sing this as of yet or until i`m better.

Simply blown away ... this is perfect ... incredible feel.
Listened to it 3 times, then tried to figure out how you
seamlessly laid the vox over the chord changes.
I realize I need to be more conscious of doing better intros
as I have been geared for instrumentals.  Nice bridge/chorus
also ... this is excellent ... thanks ... I can go on ... To be continued.

Wow!! Excellent Collab guys.

Holdem, your vox have soul all right, and they shine throughout this song. Great lyrics too. Your voice blows mine away. Makes me wanna not post mine.

Demon, you made some great soulful guitar additions to this as well. Like those taps ;D

Will still be a bit for mine to be done. I`m way off the topic here too but it`s a good thing.

Mine will be called Wounded man.

My hat and horns are dipped in your general direction.

Very well done, gentlemen.

Ohh yes Gene ... this is truly Demonized now!!!   That's some nice haunting guitar
intertwining with the vocals.  Very cool ... I guess I need to start collecting tracks
and figure out how to load them to my machine.  Email mp3's?  I'll send instant
messages to you guys.   Then I can do my normal 5 - 10 masters until I'm ready
to blow my brains out ... and I'll be looking forward to it's twin "Wounded Man"
from Gnasty ... dig it ... take your time.

Kenny B.
