Dear all,
I wanted to cover AYBCS since the fest started, since it is one of my favorite songs. Later I decided to link it with the Pixies' Bird dream in Olimpus Mons. There wasn't a more intelligent reason for the medley other than "Blimey! These two songs have the word "bird" in them. Probably they'll go well together!", and soon I fell in a dead end.
Some 2 weeks ago I finally had the courage to delete my work and start from scratch. This is the final result with a simpler line up: microbr, danelectro 63, fender jazz bass, and a couple of tracks with my best Celine Dionish voice.
Oh! Please mind that I find AYBCS awfully difficult to play. I couldn't play George's riff (if anyone is interested, drop me a PM), and my bassline is a shadow of Paul's. Well, and my voice isn't exactly John's or Paul's either... Or Black Francis, by the way.... errrr... I think the medley is cute enough to be posted, but don't expect copy-cat.
Off to Dylan now, and.... Nevermind the bollocks, here's DaSilvaSings...
I love it. there is a real groove here, a real feel that is very cool. Laid back, and grooving at the same time. Great work here.
Nice one Miguel, and interesting pairing, too. And I like the little extra surprise you threw in at the end...reminds me of something Harry Nilsson did once... :)
'And Your Bird Can Sing' was on my radar for this fest too, and I ran into the same problem - I can't play George's riffs! The bits I was able to learn I could never play quickly enough... ::)
Very cool cover(s).
I love this Beatlesfest! :)
Eno sings The Beatles with Liz Phair on guitar = Fun stuff!
Clever combination.
Fun stuff! An enjoyable listen!
these songs work well together...great idea and great job! Though I think you should have gone with the Pixles instead of Beaxies. ;)
Love your choice , great vox , great listen , produced very well
Rob
Liked the laid back feeling. The medley was a genius idea, DSS!! Liked the production, too.

Thank you all for the comments. I wasn't too sure about this one, since I think it misses George's guitar.
Your comments were much more positive than I was expecting and they forced me to make some thoughts on the song. Sorry for the "verborrhea"...
I think that by skipping the lead guitar, the bass becomes more proeminent. Paul's line is amazing, but mine does keep a certain groove in it that characterizes AYBCS. I ended up lowering one tone to the song so that the last chord of the chorus is exactly the first of BDIOM. There is only a drum break separating both songs. The rythm guitar is the same, the bass "calms down", and the voice goes back to the root (I think I was singing in thirds or something in the chorus o AY...). That gets the song really laid back. The lyrics are dreamy too!
For the next song, I'l' try to sing like Eno, and look like Liz Phair.
Oh! And I changed the name fo Pixtles! Much, much better!!! "the sax pixtles"... hmmm
The "can't buy me love" came from a recurrent lapus linguae when I was singing for myself "tell me that you got evr.../ tell me that you want those...". It was so recurrent that I decided to add another verse/ ending to sing that :-)
Cheers,
Miguel
magical combination braw tell yer maw
I somehow missed this one.
Very cool version, great idea to combie the two. That bass is a really sharp shadow of Paul's ;) Love it !!
Like Cuthbert says : We need another Beatlesfest ;D
