I'm not sure if this is the final draft. Very rough, completed in about two hours.
I kind of like it, though - Maybe I'll keep it this way. Please forgive the hiss and the click noises.
Mark
NOTE:
This is a part of a larger project that is in the dreaded General Discussion board and not the Songwriting board where it should be. (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=8458.msg116382#msg116382)
The painting/segment that I chose to write music for. (http://www.theartistpablopicasso.com/pablo-picasso-painting-old-guitarist.htm)
The lyrics that FuzzFace wrote. He is the lyricist and visionary for this project. So far it's turning out extemely well - I love it. (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=8458.msg116383#msg116383)
NICE!
I love it!! I was sold right from the opening notes.
Great job, bro!
Gotta hear it again!
This here Picasso thing is a brilliant idea. Now more entries are being posted and we get audio glimpses of the 'whole', I'm getting more and more turned on to the concept. It's amazing how each contributor is coming up with songs that are still undeniably themselves, within their own 'styles'. An exciting project all round and a great entry here..... Love it....

As the lyricist on this project, I acknowledge the singers need to tweak / massage the words to get them to work... but it's rare that I would personally LIKE the modifications.
In this case however I think you simplified it and made it more direct and in a way, authentic and believable.
And the very simple arrangement is highly atmospheric.
Once again, nice job!

I wondered if this Picasso idea was hairbrained or what... but after the first 2 installments, I am SO into this!
When I saw this post, I got giddy before clicking on it!
fanfreakingtastic mark, magic magic magic, fragile beautiful wonderful and fab fab vox , gonna loop this one.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it - I did stay pretty much true to form, but I ran out of music so I lost a verse. Sorry :-[
It was very fun to do, though. You created a great idea. I love it!

4 listens already. The sheer simplicity and beauty of it is amazing. The vocals are superb Mark. I love the range you applied. Like Fuzz said, the opening notes.... what an intro. I was hooked.
Out of the park Mark. From that intro (shall be henceforth referred to as "that intro", folks from around the world will just know what is being discussed, its that iconic and wonderful) on to the wonderful singing, like David Gilmour at his best, the simple yet pleading strums, simplicity. Just perfect.

Like I said, I think in this case you improved upon the words I wrote.
Some lines are more important than others. For example, "This time has been so blue" is a reference to Picasso's Blue Period (of which this work is a product). So I'm glad that stayed in.
But your final version is perfect. I wouldn't want you to change it.
Wow! Mark...this is perfect. You've painted the old guitarist with music. The words and music are the perfect match. Brilliant. Please don't change a thing.

Me too! I didn't expect that, but i'm getting into this, almost wishing there was another song available. Such fun.
Mark, wonderful job, I wouldn't change it, sometimes the magic is there in the first couple hours, and looks like you found it!
Wow Mark, flippin brilliant song! ~ Brilliant writing Fuzzface!
Wish i would have jumped in, but was kind of tide up....
This Picasso Album is turning out to be great already !!
Simply Superb Guys....
Mark you did a knock-out job on this one....
Just beautiful.

NICE!! That intro had me thinking?? What's he gonna do next?
You made the song yours AND to me you delivered the lyrics and message in the song.
Fab Vox!! Love it bro!!
enjoyed that, very evocative and somehow all the more for its lack of production. great !
Fantastic song, Mark - loved the opening riff and all the dynamics you put into it, and your own style is stamped in true.
Now I've gotta get myself in gear... ;)
Great intro!! Awesome vox delivery!!!Great lyrics!!!
Nice job guys!!!
Gary
Mark!!!!!!
Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speechess!
Enjoyed this one a heck of a lot.

I like it a lot, the intro is fantastic. Simple and very effective, I love the chord sequences you used. Vox are great but they seem a touch quiet in the mix for me, they get a bit lost at times. Nothing major though, this is a great job!
Cheers,
Nigel
i had this on repeat play on my mp3 player in bed tonight, ah sweeeeeeet dreams
Had this on repeat too .. still love it !!
And tho I agree with Nigel, the vox could come up a tad, the recording/production is fantastic. Great guitarsound !!!!!!!!!! And great tradeMark vox !!!!
Great track, really like the guitar sound you got.
Quote"My home, I carry with me"
= awesome lyrics Mark!!
I am on repeated listens of this tune as well.
It's going in my Launched folder baby!
Great tune bro!! (Too damn short though :()
Thanks for the excellent feedback!! I would like to point out that my post is part of the Rock Opera / Concept album "Piccasso Songbook (Is that what we are calling it?), and FuzzFace is the lyricist and director of the project. I modified the lyrics slightly for song continuity, etc. But FuzzFace said it was ok! ;)

That will be something for you to sort out when I send you the wav files, Nigel! ;D (Ferryman is the producer at large)
Thanks again!

Soo beautiful and ethereal! Mark, youve got excellent skills and touch write and perform the songs - awesome job. And FF, you've written a real fine lyrics! Love this...
Kari
This is a good song. Are you old as well as the title? You sounding like my poor granny in the bath. Very fun song, like the abstract womanising painter who died.
Great theatre. Litterally - at the end of the song I was imagining the curtains swishing back, the house lights coming up and the footsteps on the boards as the actors take the stage. It's great when a piece of music has the power to do that. I look forward to the full opera...
First time I listened I thought it sounded like Tenacious D, I was going to ask which one is Kyle? Then I thought that sounded like a cheap shot and I decided not to say that at all...
Dead good. Shall be listening to them all again. Hopefully in a better context than trying to catchup.
Leigh
Thought I had commented on this, must be my middle age dementia!
This is stunning Mark, a perfect example of a simple song sounding powerful.
Outstanding vocal as usual and great lyrics from Fuzzface.
For some reason I,ve completely missed this one glad I,ve heard it now cause this is just so good, just the love the vibe formed by your guitar and vox, you really bring the excellent lyrics of Fuzzface alive, a great listen.
This is simply beautiful. So tender. :)
Donna
great song, simple but beautiful - another winner for the songcrafters opera!
Very nice and tender. I understand that the song is not yet in its final stage, so the vox will probably become more present in the final production?
Regards,
Steffen
where is ma tinfoil hat when i need it, yeah baby mmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm alan alda alan alda braw
I agree - tender, but still retaining the signature launched spook. Excellent.
It's great to relive the creation of all these Picasso songs.
This one was really well composed and beautifully executed, as they all were.
Just wanna bump this cause it a great tune and I miss Marks music so much!!!
