With Black Mary's permission, I did a cover of this. Wanted to make sure I made it different than the original, which also means doing something a little bit different for me.
His original can be found here (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=7546.msg98615#msg98615)
Hope you like it. ;)
This has a cool fresh sound to it....I really enjoy this.
Your vox is very good as well.
I'll bet BM is proud of this cover...
LG
WOW !! I LOVE IT. ;D Firstly, I'm so flattered that you wanted to cover it in the first place.Thank you my friend. Secondly, your version is so sincere & completely changed the mood of the song. Love what you've done to the melody. Your singing is fantastic as ever.Love your vibrato. To me, it now feels more like a contemporary Willie Nelson. Hope that's taken as a compliment because it's meant as a huge one. Great tone you have on the guitars. So crisp & the song is played much tighter than my version and the whole thing works perfectly. And considering what you had to work with as an original, you've created a small miracle here. Can't praise you enough Saijinn. Seriously awesome. Gonna play this a few dozen times now ;D
BM
Wow what a flippin great tribute !! I really dug BM's song with that Alice Cooper attitude,.,.,... but you really, like, re-did it, Sai-Style, very flippin cool man!
Luv the vox and the cool acoustic solo ~ pure class dude...digging that laid-back rhythm and percussion....must listen again to both version :~)
Definitely should go on the Tribute Fest as well .!.
Well as always with your tunes i have to say wicked job Sai.
I just listened to the original and now yours. They`re both different and that is the whole point, is to put it in your own style which you always do.
I like both versions alot. And now i have both on as we say here...Piepod ;D
Awesome!!!!
By the way..This is in the wrong category no??? It should be in Songcrafters Tributes ;)
Tribute fest is ongoing aint it?
This is a Freaking Great Tribute!!!!!!
Awesome version Sai!!!!
Awesome Song!!!!!!
I'd pay for this!
great tribute sai of a great song, move it to tributes forum for you.
What an awesome cover - I love it. Well done to Black Mary for the song, and Saijinn for this inspired version. The vocals give a whole new meaning to the lyrics - Black Mary's "loser on the the way down" is standing a better chance of picking up with this version!
And once again I'm gobsmacked at the speed with which people on this site can put out quality work, BM's original only went up a few days ago - great effort...
Fanfreakingtastic Saijinn !!!!
Totally different from the fantastic original !!!
Both versions to download !!!
Wow - from the liquor cabinet to the lounge.
Great version of a wicked tune Sai!
This tune has a definite hypnotic feel to it, and I love how you applied your vocal style (great as always) to it.
Thanks all for the comments.
I had to specifically make it a point to make it sound different. I kept wanting to take out the electric and crank it to this one. heh
Thanks to Black Mary for letting me do his song. ;)
This is really cool Sai! An awesome take on a great song. sublime.
Magnificent. I love what you've done with this. Both the guitar and vocal are outstanding. That's what I call 5 star treatment. Wow.
Thanks Sandy and Greeny! It's growing on me. I am ecstatic that Black Mary liked it. I was afraid that he would have thought I changed it too much. ;)
Incredible!!!! Your voice is stunning here, one of the best vocals I have heard from you Saij. I really like this. Kinda reminds me of a mellow G&R song before Mr.Rose lost his mind. Fantastic song in every way. Love your solo.
Sai, this is fruckin' awesome. WOW.
Totally agree with everyone on this. Now it sounds beautiful, rather than raucous. God, what a difference. This is my fav version. I'm totally detached from the original. This, for me is now the original. I love the vox & refrained vox, & the acoustic rhythm. Can't stop listening to this. ;D
Wow... I don't know what to say... Thanks?
You wrote an awesome song, I did the easy part ;)
You played and sung it tho Sai. Changed it from an ugly duckling into a swan. Wish I had your voice.
This just sounds mega love every thing about it, great song writing BM and then the Saijinn treatment, those vox are to die for ,great work.
Very cool version Sai, love that solo in the middle, a very different take than our dear Mr Mary, and it works very well. Great vox and excellent production - the doubled rhythm guitar sounds great in the mix.
Cheers,
Nigel
