Did this fairly quickly with 1 acoustic guitar, 1 vocal, and 1 cheap pair of bongos each recorded with the built in mic on the MBR.

UPDATE: I added a "bass" track that I kinda like. See soundclick link in my post below:

A youtube video of the original is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eswQl-hcvU0
(uhh, maybe I shouldn't post that, as it exposes how novice my version is . . .)
Nice sound des, well done....Alex
Cool cover .. one of my (many) favorite Who songs !
Yeah! A favorite Who song that I saw them play live in '71. Glad to hear another 'unplugged cover' that I actually remember the original.
Nice clean singing and playing and welcome to the neighborhood!
great cover, fantastic listen. I really enjoyed it.
Nice unplugged cover of one of my personal favs from the Who.

One of fav tunes from Who!!! I like your acoustic version and bongos were nice idea, sounds good!

I really like this version! Very clean and very intimate...it would work nicely in a Wes Anderson movie!
Great job.
Cool cover. Sure takes me back in time. Well done.
Cool Who cover man!! I really dig the Who - you did a nice unplugged version!
Looking forward to seeing them this Sunday - Super Bowl half time quickie performance!
Really cool! Great job with this.

Great job, great job, great job (did I mention great job?).
Love the Who and i love with you did with the Song!!!
NICE!!!!!!!
JIM
I was introduced to this tune by Great White. They do a pretty cool hair-metal version (See Great White - Substitute (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvaOq57qza0)).
You did a nice cover.
I like this tune anyway it's played.
Cool job man!
Nice version, I used to play this is a band when I was 14 (not that long after it was released...). The bongos are a nice touch, don't tell Keith Moon......
Cheers,
Nigel
Not too sure about the way the words scan with the music on this one.
I know the original intimately ... and perhaps that's the problem.
However I really like your voice .. kind of Lloyd Cole meets Lou Reed.
I'm going to visit your SoundClick site & listen to some of your the other songs now.
I'm back again ... I still like your voice ... Very distinctive.
Keep On Keepin' On.

another one i nearly missed a great version
It's like Jim Croce meets Pete Townsend! It's great!
Thanks everyone for the nice comments!
Below is a new version with "bass". To stay unplugged I decided to just tune down my acousic guitar and pluck the two top strings with my index finger. It gave a buzzy, clicky sound that I kinda like:

(Caveat: I'm an ultra-amateur bass player.)
Let me know which version you like better (the one without bass is in the first post of the tread)
OtDB (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=3785.msg154982#msg154982) and almost a hidden gem ! At least the version with the bass ! Yes yes yes, I like the version with the bass best. And a great way to get an acoustic "bass"!
Missed this too, really great acoustic take on the Who classic, the bass version is best, enjoyed it lots!!!
