ain't no fx, just double tracked
i know this should go in lyrics but whaT THE hell....
she fell 4000 feet and landed on my way
she split my skin with a single flick of her whip-tail
she's cute in a head too big for the body kinda way
I'm sure she'll make a pretty fine wife someday
Jane, let me see your room
Wanna stay in your room
Let me under your bed
she's cute in a face too big for the head
kinda way
Eviller than keniveller on Pay Day
with stick-like legs and hair
Blacker than Reggie Kray
I'm sure you'll make a pretty fine wife
So some say
chorus bit plus
Jane, come and cut y'teeth on me
let me under your bed
she's cute!
your bed, your bed
let me under you...
something like that anyway....
fuck, it's COLD, man

you are off the scale, dude! it's only -3C here and thats unusual in itself... it rarely goes below zero, like once every twenty years or so.... oh man, I need more booze, cos at least that don't freeze.... unlike my feet...
henwrench
normally, it's t-shirts and shorts all year round....wheres my jumper?
Whatta track!!! You are the master! I Love it. Awesome recording!!!
THe drums sound so great - so you were all playing together? were the drums mic'ed? did they go through a mixer?
Brilliant mang brilliant!
Very cool henwrench! It`s definitely original. Love the break beat near the end. Love the diversity of songs on this site. Glad i found you all :)
Peace out

Drums, piano and 1 guit thru cheap mixer. (drums stereo overheads) all into 2 trcks... guit 2 and bass onto 3 and 4..... BOUNCE!... synth and guit 3.... BOUNCE!.... Two Lead vocals and b/vs together.... DONE!.... I really can't sing, so I always double track and hard pan L/R, and it works for so many of my heroes.... thats about it.... :)
henwrench
This is very catchy!! Yup toe tapping, thats a good description!!

henwrench
you in the o zone baby
Great song, henwrench - especially loved the drony synths and tempo hitches. Your vocals sounded good to my ears, and not too low in the mix - I too am a fan of the double-tracking. ;)
This is excellent. Reminiscent to me of early (Peter Gabriel era) Genesis, which I like a lot.
It may be -15 degrees outside but it's many degrees away from normal in the land of the Henwrench. An absolute killer, great, great sounds for a live recording. The tempo changes and wackiness of the slightly off kilter guitar add a lovable edge to this, and the keyboard sounds are great, they really make this so hooky. And the vocals, well they are just awesome. They are at just the right level for me, and the high parts are fab! It's a great song, but we are kind of getting used to that from you, no surprises there. I hope you are getting this stuff out in the real world, it is really, really strong material that needs (and deserves) a wider audience.
Now you have to share more with us how you did this and who your buddies are that helped out. Part of a regular Henny band? And how did you get such a great live recording - everything going through a mixer, some overdubs of the instrument parts?
BTW, this shares a lot of common ground with Bosko Schwarz's work on this site - do check it out if you haven't, you will really like it.
Cheers,
Nigel
Great job. Live recording or not. You guys are jamming.
This is way out there...I Love It!
Bravo

Choose yourself out of these dutch brands : Heineken, Dommelsch, Amstel or Grolsch ?
Heineken : 1 week stay
Dommelsch : 1,5 weeks stay
Grolsch : 0,5 week stay (gives me head ache)
Amstel : 1 month stay
This Totally totally FUN FUN FUN!!
hahaha, i'm jumping around this track...
Way The GO!!!!
HWH - If you (and your Friends on this cut, and your musical ideas), had been around and functioning in any year between 1960 & 1974 you would have had a recording contract within days.
(Others will disagree with that time-frame, but so be it). This is a very catchy toon indeed. In fact these quirky-outpourings seem to be your stock in trade, which gives you a couple of pluses on the originality scale. I could honestly see you having a cult-following among the populace-at-large, though possibly not much more than that because musical sophistication has been squeezed out of most of the young music-buying public (again, others will disagree. Oh well). But long may your sound-meanderings continue, the couple that I have heard have repaid the effort many times over.
Very well done.
Deal lord, I almost missed this one. I was still in my post christmas stress/depression/drunk/blahhhhhgh hangover and was not too active there for a bit. But today I am hearing this finally. This song is waking me up. I am inspired by this song. I want some of what you were taking that night, it sounds so damn fun. This is what is so great about this site. We drift along, songs get posted, people come and go, and one day a song like this pops up, brilliant, beautiful, inspiring. Thanks for sharing this one, just lovely. I have nothing constructive to say here, I am too blown away by the girth of this, the weight of the creative impulse required to fashion something like this out of raw sound. Art good sir, this is art. Keep them coming Henwrench, keep them coming.
Man this is frikkin' awesome. Where do you come up with this stuff?
"Eviller than keniveller on Pay Day with stick-like legs and hair"~~luv it!
Ok. I'm done listening to the friggin' radio. There is more talent on this site.
What a very cool song. I even got the Reggie Kray reference (I'm in the States). Nicely done.
Btw, what's double tracking? Also, what's a measure? How do I know what key I'm playing in? How do I know if it's an eighth note or a quarter note?

You got questions Torren, thats a good thing. Time to dig in a bit.
Great flipping song...stands up to repeat listens (12 and counting...)

Double tracking is the process of doing say, a lead vocal, and then doing it again on another track. I then pan one say L20, the other R20 and you get a bit of natural chorusing going on because the two vocals are going to have very slight differences in tuning and delivery. I like to pretty much always double track rhythm guitars and hard pan them left and right (L50/R50) which just gives a huge stereo spread and makes it all sound nice and wide.
As for the other questions - Pass! Try asking 48 or somebody who know's more about theory, I'm afraid it's never been a strong point of mine.

I just had to say that I agree with the comments everybody has already made. Great song, truly original and very well recorded. Love it.

This is the second time in a row I've been really impressed with your material. This is just great. Keep them coming please. You get another maybe eight or so like the two I've heard recently and you'll have an album that would have to sell. Very cool lyrics also.
Mike

Love this track. Bit like Supergrass who I love. Like the off key piano bits and really lively. Great stuff you should be signed to label but it's all shit business better off without it.
