Title: Seabird---Facemask93--Ak
Post by: Facemask93 on December 29, 2009, 06:08:37 AM
This song was written by my good friend Aussie kelvin , he was inspired by a post he heard in August this year , called Oil , about the plight of seabirds affected by the sludge.
Basicaly it's the thoughts of a dying Seabird , wishing he could be with his friends.
We are hoping to add some harms at a later date , we are confident that we have secured the services of a female vocalist for future recordings , anyway we hope you like it.

The combination of the strings and the simple, but very effective, guitar work are perfect as is the wonderful vocal delivery.

This song is a winner!!

Awesome, Rob & Ak! Love it! The string section sounds really cool. Those harmonies you speak of will add a lot to this as well - Hopefully you can update us when they are ready.

On behalf of AK and myself many thanks all , the strings were added using Cakewalk Native Instruments--Studio Instruments , via Sonar , the software includes , bass , strings , piano and drums.
I got an M-audio keyboard controller for Xmas , quite cheap , £60 , i used it to put Bass on Horse with no name on covers , and strings on Seabird.

Happy New Year all

The tone of the strings remind me of the strings in Indian music.  I like it!

Gorgeous song! It reminds me a bit of later Donovan or Robin Williamson.

And count me amongst the fans of the strings on this one.

Those strings a little after 1:00 is a VERY nice touch. The sound of this demo is very good, the vocal performance is very good and the song is very well written. Every once in a while I hear a touch of peak on the vox I think. But I'm not listening on headphones so I can't be sure. Doesn't matter, though. It's damn fine either way.

On second listen there's just a touch like at 1:40, but it might be more effect than actual peak. But like I said it's not detracting at all. And if I haven't been spending a ton of time trying to mix my own work I would never have heard it or even brought it up. So forget I said anything. Good song.

A real stunner Rob.
The lyrics are beautiful and the string really add a wonderful feel.

I agree with Tharek, this is a grand example of how it should be done.

Congrats to you both... crafty collab

First listen to this Facemask, then a second, then a third. A stunning piece. Great song, great melody, love the strings, well put together. However it is richer than that. Sometimes a song can move you, make you empathetic (ie... put you there), this is such a song. The emotion, the feeling your friend had upon writing this is there, raw.. opened up fully.. inviting/pulling the listener into feeling those exact emotions, and then takes it further and actually puts the listener there, as the animal takes it dying breaths. This is an exceptionally powerful piece, one that released to the world would create a lot of emotion, and with many... tears. Stunning, moving work.
