So I went to 64's site to browse around (thanks again 64) and clicked on the 2.10 firmware link. It now goes to the 2.12 firmware page. I'm probably out of the loop and way behind here, but the last time it was only the japanese site that had 2.12 so I never bothered to install it.

Yeah, you probably should update. I updated my BR-600 with firmware on the Japanese site, it fixed my CF card error problems.
One of my brothers works for Roland, and a lot of times, RolandUS doesn't find out for months the RolandJapan has released updates on their site.
This doesn't just happen at Roland, but Korg, ZOOM, etc, have the same problem with their Japanese HQ.
