Title: Karli & Frank
Post by: thetworegs on March 25, 2025, 09:05:39 AM
A sad tango of a song ....
Karli gin soaked sat on the bench
She didn't know where she was or what she was gonna do
Her head was gone to the clouds
Her head
a mash
of everything she was mean't to do

She 'd closed her eyes to tomorrow
Didn't live for the day
Just soaked the blackness from her heart
She'd lost her soul to a man many years ago
And dissapeared into the dark

Now Frank lived it wild
He was a wild child from the sixties
He filled his head up high
as he liked fly in his mind
Especially on Sundays

He'd get drunk at noon
Stay drunk all day
Just so he could play
He supped his beer cold
Along with getting stoned
Be out of his mind till Monday
Midday

Had no life
But that smile
warmed everyones heart
He met Karli at noon
Walking out
with her head in her hands
stumbling from the park

It was love at first sight
As they looked into each others eyes
They were entwined in a dark dark game
With both of them trying to hide
Tighter and tighter as the rope of bad fortune pulled them to be the same
Pullled them together till there was no difference
No difference at all
Monday morning came again along with Tuesday wednesday Thursday Friday along with the week took it all

Saturday they opened there eyes and found life was bad there to
They were lost souls
On a boat with no chartered course
Just floating along on that sea of chance

Lost of course
Their eyes closed off to the future
There was No tomorrow for them
Just a darkness in their heart
that they were trying to hide from
Oh it was bad man

Karli knew her resons
Frank he understood but he didn't know why he drank all day
He'd forgotten his misery
He'd left it somewhere
To be picked up another day

Everyday the same
The clock it ticked
That little second hand kept going round
The bar reopened
It started again
They found themselves back on the ground

They would fly high
Then Crash and burn
Everyday seemed the same
Till they were found in their car on Thursday
Both of them released from their pain
The pipe in the window still churning out gas
The car was still running
Buth both of them were gone
Gone gone gone

You're just trying to cheer me up now, aren't you?

Fantastic lyrical imagery and a real "rat-pack" feel.

Wonderful.

Nice cool jazz track, Trev. Nice rhythmic tapping on those hi-hats and tasty piano work.

Some cool, nostalgic jazz with a sad story...makes me want to metaphorically drown my sorrows. Great work here Trevor!

Absolutely dripping in atmosphere and the feel of a smoky club late at night. I very much like how the story is so dark, but is performed with such slinky, seductive glee, with your vocals delivered with a sly grin and a wink, like a devil whispering in the listener's ear.

This is awesome trev, love how smooth and jazzy it is and your vocal delivery matches it perfectly. The drums and bass are great and some nice piano there mate. You always tell a great story and get into the part.
