After reading thetworegs topic on his RPM - btw, I can't believe he's finished already!!! ;D - I decided to link up my FAWM 2025 now...
Mine's still a work in progress... there's 5 there at the moment, but I have 9 written.
I'm writing during the week and recording at the weekend. They're all live single mic recordings in the Broom Cupboard.
Hoping to record and post 4 tomorrow. Maybe write another too.
For FAWM, it's "14 songs in February" - I'm pretty much on target now (given that I'll have to finish by the 27th!)

FAWM 2025 - Songs 4 SOP.JPG
14 songs written in 22 days... not quite as fast as thetworegs
The demos are all single mic (Shure SM7B) acoustic-one-take recordings done in The Broom Cupboard with that Fender Paramount PM2 using Studio One.
I'll probably do some of these for real at a later date, but I need to lie down for a while now, I'm not that young you know ;D
An unintended side effect of these FAWM posts is that I feel like I should be over there with my guitar and notepad writing songs – not here at my cucking fomputer listening to your and Trev's albums.
Listening now.
"Another Year Older" is a really strong start. That one wants to be a rocker.
I'm a few songs in now. Hopefully it will take me less time to listen to them all than it took you to write and record them all.
I've listened to a couple and loved them. I'm impressed.
I gave them all a listen and I'm quite impressed Andy! You did this with one mic, your voice, an acoustic, a lot of imagery/creativity, and in a short time period...yes, quite impressive!
Listening to Open the Box right now. I thought I would start with track 7.
Very impressive.
I listened to some of these songs days ago and started writing some "clever" comments about them.
About the All We Need To Know song (So Andy is singing about the sex toys these days?) etc. etc. but didn't post anything. And it's only now that i noticed the title "Songs For Swinging Old Peeps". So where's the song about dogging? :D
But yeah, i'll join the choir. This is mightily impressive. You're worthy of that Songcrafter moniker of yours. Hats of for Andy!
Thanks folks :)
;D @zoltan
The imagery in my head for those toys (All We Need You To Know) was two things:
- J F Sebastian's toys in Blade Runner
- Bagpuss (UK childrens program in the 70s/80s) - we met him recently, and Professor Yaffle, and Madelaine, Gabriel the Toad, and the mice on the mice organ, and the dress Emily wore, a few weeks ago. They're in a little museum in Canterbury - there are others from the same film-makers there too: Ivor the Engine, Noggin The Nog, The Clangers. But turning the corner and seeing the actual cast of Bagpuss... WOAH! There were tears. Actually, we're going back tomorrow!
No songs about dogging I'm afraid... do old people even do that? We're not planning on it!
I believe the song nearest to having any intentional "human physicality" from me in this set is West Coast Suntan. After the title etc, I then struggled with it feeling a bit misogynistic to me... until I switched the pronoun from he to she... I'm imagining a female version of Gustav Klimt. From there I ended up with the "I'm old, I don't understand this modern gender sh1t... but live and let live, it's all good".
I'll probs be working some (all?) of them up into full productions - not sure how I'll publish those. I already have something like 10-12 band productions in progress/rehearsal at the moment anyway. Another 5-10 were waitign to get on the treadmill... now these 14 (plus 30+ old ones that I identified I'd like to record a year or two ago)
14 songs in 22 days? You, sir, earn my undying admiration. I couldn't do that across a generation. Good luck with your endeavour. I can't review any because it keeps asking me to 'log in'; which I'm not. 8)
Impressionnant!......as these are vocal/guitar songs, can I try sticking a Dobro guitar or Weiseenborn guitar track on one of your songs?

Many thanks for asking first :)
All fourteen have already moved into full-band recording processes here (I had to restrain myself from exploring that during FAWM, otherwise I'd never have got it finished!) - some more than others... and I'm not sure how many of them will get to the end of it!
But I'd have no objection to you taking one of / any of raw these demos on, especially if you're only posting on songcrafters.
If you're posting further afield, please add a link back to the demo's home page on alonetone.
excellent!, ce ne serait que pour mon amusement personnel et pour publier sur DongCrafters; et peut etre,si vous etes d'accord, pour publier sur you tube dans ma playlist serie Containment Musical Workshop with Friends; all around the world

Hello Andy
just a try on your song If somebody Noticed
it's easy because it's in G and dobro is tuning in G
if you agree...I'll continue ;)
Really cool slide tone!
You're getting the 3rd chord wrong though: it's a B7, not a D, leading into the Em. The important note/harmony is a D# there, not a D natural.
Here's all the chords:
If Anybody Noticed
G G C C
B7 B7 Em Em
G G C C
B7 B7 Em Em
Am7 D7 G C
Am D7 C D
Thanks for the tuning grid Andy,... yes indeed there is a B7, ..but I'll take it back I did this test like that "on the fly".
I'll do it again this afternoon in full...I think the dobro goes well in this song ;)

:) Yes, the dobro goes really well on this version, doesn't it? It's making me wonder about the arrangement I've got in mind.
After I posted I thought - can't believe he missed that, it's exactly the sort of changes that would grab him, I wonder how/why he did?
It didn't cross my mind about "on the fly" ... I do it too, but I NEVER post something unless I'm sure I'd addressed everything to the level I was either aiming at or thought I could reach.
These acoustic demos are as close to "on the fly" as I'll do for public postings... and most of them were:
- Written "day 1" and recorded into phone to not forget, possibly in sections.
- Learnt/rehearsed "day 2-3 or 4" from those phone demos while writing the next songs.
- Recorded at weekend in batches: approximately 2 hours per song including 10-20 takes each then post-processing on the take I was "almost ok on".
- Posted the finished ones before I could change my mind!
;D ;D ;D ;D - that's about as "on the fly" as I get!
I repeat my first opinion: ...impressive work!
I'm adding the dobro again this afternoon...a little less "on the fly" ..in my "on the fly version", there were a lot of timing errors.
the next version will be much better!... ;)
A very enviable amount of output in 14 days and all the way maintaining a very respectable level of attention to quality. And an impressive work ethic!
here's my complete version of this song from your impressive work, which I like very much...
Would you allow me to publish it in my series "Containment Musical Workshop With Friends All Around The World"?...I'd be very honored to do so.

Sounds cool :)
Yep, no problem. If possible add a link to the original song demo's alonetone page: https://alonetone.com/andyr/tracks/if-anybody-noticed-(acoustic-demo)
Oh, and the title is "If Anybody Noticed" :)
