Title: wildfire evacuations
Post by: des0free on January 23, 2025, 08:19:30 PM
There are now some wildfires and evacuations in our county, although so far they are not reported to be a direct threat to us

But this afternoon, before one of the fires was stopped, my wife called me at home and told me to start packing our "important stuff".

There was not much time to think about it, so acting purely on instinct I started grabbing some of my "better" guitars, e.g. a few Fenders, while leaving cheaper ones, e.g. Squiers, and all my wife's stuff, behind. Hey, like I explained to her later, sometimes in dire situations we have to make snap judgment calls :)

in all seriousness it has been a bad situation for many

Best wishes to you Des, it's a horrible situation down there. I hope the fires will be put out soon, too many people have suffered....

I feel for you and all the people in Southern California that have been impacted by these life changing fires. I'm glad you and yours are safe for the moment Des. The weather forecast shows some rain coming your way this weekend which should help getting the fires under control. As one Cali Bro to another stay as safe as you can Des and family.

A friend of mine lost his house. He is a great performer and songwriter from Altadena.

Kevin Sandbloom (https://kevinsandbloom.com/)

This was filmed in the house that burned down.

reds hearts to you Doug... and everyone there as well..

I did find what you said a bit humorous and interesting... get the important things together could mean very different things to different people...

Also I do think humor does help remove some of the stress...

hope you don't have to evacuate.

Stay safe, Doug. Those Santa Ana winds blowing fire looked truly horrifying - my heart goes out to those who've lost their homes.

Sending prayers your way.  To you and all the Californians in the path of these nasty fires.  May they end soon.
