Title: Zappa Doing "Stairway"
Post by: Johnbee on July 03, 2024, 03:58:28 PM
You gotta hear this if you haven't already.  Zappa was his own brand.  Bizarre genius.
They also do "Walrus" by the Beatles.

Will save this for later. Got to see him on the sheik yerbouti tour in Glasgow. Fantastic gig and band.

Sheik was a great album.   I still ROFL when I hear him imitate Dylan.  ;D I

crazy.. the man he has singing is great... amidst the great guitar and all the other craziness... seems fitting.

yeah I saw Zappa live once.

the bass on the Zep track sounds great too.  It is like he is poking fun at the song yet proving he can play perfect too...

In later performances Zappa arranged the Jimmy Page guitar solo for the horn section.

There's probably a better version of this online, but I couldn't find it. The audio quality is pretty bad. But go to about 6:45 for the solo.

Frank was always an iconoclast, a reggae version of Stairway is a genius idea! The best thing is he really rips it up with the solo. I don't listen to him a whole lot but I absoulutely respect him for his musicianship and his "I don't give a F#%& if you like it or not" attitude.
