Fools Gold
written/performed/recorded by Dave Berry, with assistance from Keith Berry on bass
Dave: lyrics/vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, GB drums and organ/synths
Keith: Bass (his new Rickenbacker....what a beast)
recorded on iPad/Garageband
I got a new song finished up.....
Oh yeah, this is the goods. Love the guitars and keys, especially as it turns toward prog - and the Rickenbacker is honking, good and proper. Great duet at the end, too - everything locked in.
Well done, gentlemen.
Great to hear a new one from you brother and it is perfection as this is your standard

my airwaves are happy this morning... all of this is really great but I really love that organ .... and the way you mix it in...it really trips with the guitar... actually I could say this reminds me of The Greatful Dead.... I don't think I ever noticed that before... this feels like "Touch of Grey"... that sort of great feeling listening to this.
the tune is progish but also very psychadelic in my book... I dig it... you do sound like absolutely no one I know and that is great.. the lead guitar is a bit like the great Neil Young... but the song is so original and I love that.
A thing of beauty Dave. Guitars are great and the song is so strong and full of hooks. Oh - and yes Keith's Rick honks as it should.
Brilliant.

A great melody and the chord progression is to die for, Dave! The song rolls along so effortlessly. Keith's bass work with the Ric. stands out nicely. I agree with Stephen on the Neil Young style of your lead guitar solo. All around a good song!
A...ha! The world is yet again a little better place! A new song from Mr. Bluesberry is always a cause for celebration.
Not black, or blank, but a furry, fuzzy and warm celebration. Nothing is forced in this song. I need more. I need an IV filled with this.
Music is great. Love the guitars and the bass. I wish you would have the lyrics up. I can't quite understand all of them because they sometimes get lost in the instrumentation and effects.

This ebbs and flows in different directions and keeps the listeners attention. Really enjoyed the journey... quite 70's rock and yeah a wee touch of prog in there. Some great lead guitar and yes that bass is super solid from Keith.
Mike
i agree with all that's been said already. i like that bass guitar playing. super song
Nice chord progressions, Dave in this great song. That bass from Keith is cooking and cool guitar work too.
Oh my. You've outdone yourself here. This is fab.
Love the wonderful melody that's made even more beautiful with that clever chord progression.
And the performance and production is top notch.
Well done. .... Well done indeed
Ooh, I love the jangle.
I think if the guitars came down a tad, the vocal would be allowed to shine a bit more.
The bass is quite the mvp in this song. I must ask what it was along with the signal chain. It has a Macca thing with the lack of sustain. geez, the bass and bass tone just get better as it rolls along. Is that all in the hands? Blimey. Killer soloing as well.
Love this tune. The best of the 70's while still being you.
Blooby
superb music and I love the vocals. the bass sounds awesome, driving it all along, great guitars and drums. has a hint of psychedelic to it, which I really like. nicely produced too.
Top class job on every way! Got some prog rock vibe from the 70's. That keyboard tone is perfect!
Loving it Dave I agree with all that's been said you are the man
Love hearing a new song from you Dave!
You know how to put it all together, chord changes that I could never think of.
The solo section with the bass line behind it was shall I say...
Sweeeeeeeeeeet!!
Hope you are doing well bub!
Super..
Great flow
Has a catchy melodic feel and draws you in quite cleverly and warmly
Excellent post

I forgot to put a comment on this, another great track I was glad to contribute to. I really like the tone I was able to get out of my Ricky. An excellent song, I'm particularly impressed by the lyrics on here. Great stuff!
My this is great.
Getting a free bird vibe from it.
Your vocal sounds different on this.
The bass is excellent.
Guitars are great as well.
Cool lead at the end.
Well done to all.
Brilliant .. I really liked it .. great melody and the chord progression ..
Great work
Love, love, love that verse chord progression. Fantastic and meticulous production. Bloody marvellous songwriting, and that bass is a killer. So cool! 8)
So solid. I really enjoyed the melody and arrangement, plus your guitar work is so impressive! Bass guitar sounds great!
just a heads up that I plan to listen to every song on the annual juke box and comment once more... I try and do that each year. if these are important to you then they are to me.
Dave, for 1 song for the year this is epic... and maybe it just works that way sometimes. I would like to get like that...
I read all the comments... Free Bird! Vocals could be louder or guitars down... Neil Young,
"I didn't know til I was shown that door!"
this song could fit the comment you made on the annual sampler.. but if you go back into the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's it has always been the same... world turnin and world burnin..
and here we are for such a time as this!
yeah man that breakdown is to die for here Dave... very much late 60's early 70's... woodstock era stuff..
that bass is cookin with LNG (a dirty word in some circles)....
I wanna hit repeat again...
take care!
