Another parody about my job.
Man, this is excellent! Weird Al would be proud. I love a good parody. You have the ZZ Top style down. Well done.
Frank
Hardly a parody .. it's TOO GOOD !!!!
Brilliant man !!
Again, beautiful guitars. This time the drums are particularly good too.
Are these BR-600 drums or do you use software?
Also is the bass sounds a BR-600 simulation patch? Just interested in a geeky sort of way?
You haven't let us down yet, another stunning tune.
Loved it!
gingerjack - The drums are BR600. I found the drum tab on the net and used the rhythm editor to program the patterns. I put them all together into an arrangement and Volia! - instant ZZ Top. The Bass is either "Loose Bass" or "Tight Bass" sim . I can't remember which one, but I always use one or the other. I've got to find a cheap bass one of these days.
PS - If I can find where I saved the drum arrangement, I will post it up here for people to jam on.
48 - Thanks man, glad you liked it.
This ZZ tune used to be a daily play for me - so this "parody" was quite a thrill! It was done so well it could be used as a backing track for somebody to sing over.
You da man!
Mark
heard this on the other br site
still love it-top shelf
OMG!! What a jam!! LOL!
Class stuff - very nice mixing... love the guitars in the instrumental. Billy would be proud...
Clever lyrics as well :)
Hey, this is fun and as someone that has many years in software it made me laugh. But it's great version of one of my fave ZZ Top songs, and it's very well recorded. Great work for prgramming the drums from a tab as well. Great vox too - you pull this one off very well! Lovely pinch harmonics in the solo as well.
Cheers,
Nigel
You are a style whore!!!!!!
I think that is awesome!!!!!!!!

Thanks Geir. I actually just had a listen to this in the car the other day. Somehow I got the right mix on this one.
I'm really glad you liked it.
Vann,
I was in the market for a cheap bass and a friend recommended SX. I bought the SX SBJ-62 (sunburst) for $120. I had to do some setup work on it, but overall I've been pretty happy with it considering the price. I used it on "Can't Write That Song" and "Pardon Me" if you want to hear what it sounds like. I think I used the fliptop patch in the BR600 for both songs. Here's where I ordered it: http://www.rondomusic.com/bassguitars4.html.
Thanks Rick,
I actually just saw a classified ad for a Fender Squier P Bass for $150 CDN, which I *think* is a good deal. I might go have a look at it.
Those SX basses do look pretty nice for the price though. Wish I could try one out. Thanks for that link, I appreciate the info.
