Shows how long it takes me to finish a song nowadays. The backer for this was already well in hand before the event which inspired the title / theme of the lyrics, which was the Boris Johnson no confidence vote on June 6th this year.
It's a song about a person who consistently lies and behaves badly, although not directly about Boris Johnson or politics.
There are two (Telecaster) guitar tracks plus keyboard and drums from GarageBand as well as some vocals. It's kind of a post punk feel.
this is crazy and fun. The staccato type string plucks merge well with the drums..
this song is very original.. there are so many kinds of rhythms and styles within the structure..
a song like this takes time to work it's magic in my head. Some will glance right over it...
and it could be easy to do... but I think a song like this is as good as some of the great Police songs..
gotta hear this every day for a while... i want to see what happens..
Mr. ODH does the confidance and does it good!
The lyrics are quirky, or should i say even cheeky. The chorus was a slight surprise. Are we in a somekind of Kula Shaker territory here? Messing with them psychodelics again? Quaaludes again?
The verses are even better.
I don't know much about politics in the UK, except what I see on US TV. But I do know a cool song when I hear one and this is cool. I like the dynamics of the Telecasters and the punkish style vocals. The chorus makes an excellent turn in the song. Nicely done ODH!
Quirky and a little punky for sure. I like the odd choices of instrumentation (key stabs?) on the verse, it certainly grabs the attention and alerts you to the "something's not quite right" message in the lyrics. There is a lot in here Nick... I think it's a fab song that gets more interesting with repeated listens.

I, too, have quite an admiration for the arrangement. Those stabs are perfectly rendered. The vocal delivery is fun while not being whimsical. There's an almost maniacal feeling to the music and verse melody that somehow strikes my fancy in just the right spot.
Yes, quirky and cheeky and moody as well. Some fun! 8)
Not the normal style of song I listen too, but I like it a lot. The "dynamics" (alternating: loud/soft, fast/slow, spoken/sung, instruments in/out) on this are really great - a high level of sophistication and creativity in that!

Hi ODH,
Nice song, and I can relate to the lyrics.
I love the Telecasters!!!
Happy new Year 2023, my friend!!!
Rene
This is excellent, love the way those harmonies go at the end of the chorus, almost like an I'm not in love 10cc effect.
The lyrics are so clear ,you can make out every word.
A great composition, a clever song.
A great performance.
Quirky song, really liked the verses, has a bit of squeeze style to it which was a great band, fun lyrics enjoyed
Yes, cool post punk vibe here! Very original!
Very 80s style with a hint of Ian Drury. Nice one. Very cool.
Very cool song. Love all the changes, and the spoken vocal. Fun lyrics.
The chorus is my fave, it has a mid 60's vibe to it (In my opinion, spelled out!) but works so well in current times. Crazy bass, crazy guitars, infectious vocal harmonies.
Well done, you should be proud of this one
