I stumbled upon an incredible free soft synth called Surge. I plunked around on some random chords, giving no thought of a song structure. I ended up building something more traditional around the synth bits, but in the end, I edited it down as an instrumental. I'll still send John the longer version to see if he'll bite. Maybe we'll just axe the weird middle part and will be left with something resembling normal.
You can still tell where the chorus/verse bits were supposed to be. Be my guest if anybody wants to fill it up with some instrumental oddities (preferably other than electric guitar as there is plenty here already).
The theremin-sounding whale calls (that are too loud in the keyboard section) were from a self-oscillating fuzz pedal through a %hit-ton of delay. Scared the cats. The pitchy fretless bass I'm certain didn't help matters.
First mix. Still have to consider what to do with the drums.
Peace.
Blooby
I too once tried this synthg called Surge. I'm not vain, but i didn't like the way it looked so i gave it a purge :) I've noticed that it's among the highest rated of free soft synths, but nah...
But you're still making me reconsider my choices. Perhaps someone could build an alternative skin for that Vsti :D The way it sounds here is like whales mating with cosmic monks flying high in the sky. I was going to comment on the great guitar soloing, but then the synths took it into another dimension. To a dimension where mere guitars couldn't reach.
Now all i can think of is those whales and if the cosmic monks liked the treatment, or if it was savage. World can be a scary place!
Laidback instrumental song! Sounds great via phones = professional production as always!
"self-oscillating fuzz pedal"
me and the mrs need one of those for the bedroom... lol
scaring cats? that is hard to do...
is it weird if I love this?
cool synth... my cat is looking around as if she has being invaded by alien cat beings...
do not, I repeat, do not delete the middle section... just tell John to put on a weird hat and see what happens...
this is cool... but it could almost be used in the Halloween fest...
Great song, I find it had a Pink Floyd-ish sound to it .. really good guitar work.
I also use Surge once in a while, it has great sounds ..
Well done.
I can see the light show now! Maybe add some echo to the drums(?) but it all sounds good to me. 8)
I love listening down through the latest jukebox... there is so much variety, so many different vibes...such great music... then you get to the Bloobster and it blows you away... or maybe I should say... I get to the Blooby posts... and they blow me away..
really great and very interesting stuff... I hear dolpins and whales mating... or maybe that is alien sounds traveling over light beams billions of light years away? Whichever, it gets better each listen...
Singers are overrated... remind John of that... I know way more singers than guitar players...lol... this is just a joke really but musicians tend to get underpaid and singers over... it just ain't right..

This is a cool instrumental. It's like something from a pink Floyd album, with those great guitar riffs and synths. The synth sounds great by the way. I really like the middle part.
Look forward to hearing a different erosion if you did do one.

Thanks! I think that killed my excuses towards this Vsti. Whale sounds await!
I quite enjoyed listening through. You've nailed both a laid back feeling and a sense of tension or texture that gave it a dynamic feel.
You have the Guilmour soar at times, and the bass is friggin' good. And then other improvisational textures come out, just mind blowing.
I am a fan.
I'm listening in the laundromat....washer died and new one comes next week.....anyho.....as I said, sitting in the laundromat, not wearing any underwear, they are all in the machine...flipping love the sounds here...it comforts my soul at such a mundane moment of my life....underwear-less and all....lovely...later on when I get some clean underwear on I'll give it another listen, see if it grabs me the same
I wear the spandex shit now. The kind with the gratuitous pouch in the front that I can't fill.

If this wasn't such a family friendly site I would request a picture for proof....
You are cracking me up, I have a work thing I'm doing from home and switching to here when I can. As many know from a long time ago I don't really bundle up when working from home. Is your mom home curly, all I can think of!
At your laundry site, and being winter, hope you can stay comfortable!!
Spandex is awesome, never knew it, took me all my life to find out. Not fully spandex but neo-skivs would be a better definition.
what a fun dialog to read! so much description of subject... I just threw away 3 jock straps and some sort of male undie sex thingy that the wife bought me years ago. I was sorting through my underwear and sock drawer. I almost felt guilty throwing it out...but really? Did she want me to wear that? Or was she thinking I would like it. Weird! I suppose I should have attempted to communicate with her about that. I just found it easier to chuck it...I am after all a tighty whitey guy...
oh the conversations that Blooby's tracks spawn..

surely you took a picture before disposal....I mean, just for archival purposes ......i suppose this little adventure is gonna end up in one of your future songs........a picture would support a rendering of form, fit and function within the context of said song......
Tighty whitey, I got that claim all the time, like I was nothing. Such a loser wearing something I felt good in. I agree it was a cool time, that soft cotton was so special. Now I'm rockin' the cool skivs!

I totally respect your relationship.
I thought Steve already wrote a song about his undies...
Fully enjoying this hijack. I want more though...
I'm not sure what i've just read, but it's comforting to know that others are losing they're marbles too!

Not losing.. Lost :)
Cool experimental piece. Love the non-traditional chord structure. Powerful, emotional performance. I think the rather monotonous drum track is just what this piece calls for. A foundation that everything is built upon. Nice work!
which marbles are we talking about? btw... this is a great track... as are all of Blooby's guitar playing and tracks.
I felt left out of the running joke.
I came for the spandex. Stayed for the song.

Don't you dare! This song is a great journey. On my fourth listen – this time with cans. So good.
As an advocate for everyday active transportation, I have negative associations with spandex and lycra. I always ride my bike in my regular clothes – wearing underwear, not that it's any of your business.

That's DWI guy! If you don't have the full kit complete with the stupid helmet but wear jeans and a hoodie, you don't have a driver's license guaranteed. Not you per se, remember talking to Tony about this, more like a red car blue car thing. And not that I am adverse to PPE (Need it for work a lot) but just an overall observation. I ride my two wheels normally like you.
BTW I have never worn lycra or spandex in public. I'll keep that style at the kitchen table. One look at David Lee Roth and forget it, just not going to happen. I suppose he could pull it off, but then I think no, not really (And I friggin' miss the ellipsis, what a poor New Year's Resolution)
A few chords on this tune I appreciate, if a good drum track got fleshed out that would be so nice, and keep it all it's a fine track.

I am convinced that this is the reason that some Americans who want to start bike commuting suit up in lycra and flashy high-end bikes – the want to clearly signal to anyone who sees them "I'm doing this by choice!!! I totally have a car and a valid license!!! Please respect me, America!!!"
But let's not get off topic.

Yes, that's the only lackluster part of this track.
